I agree with Priscilla and her ideas about the way in which the Civil War and slavery are taught in the US. The fact that slaves experienced the unspeakable crimes they did is appalling, but I feel their history is taught just as in depth as the Holocaust is because of the shame and sorrow that accompany it. I also believe that the attitude towards African Americans is not necessarily disrespect, however it can be called that because of the immense gray area that seems to surround racism, African Americans, and Caucasians in the United States.Â
