Modern Day Slavery where poor is demeaned

darkest deeds seldom seen

Mothers living on modern day plantations 

where babies are snatched 

without hesitation 

Not allowed freedom told when to speak

 degradation made us weak

I won't be an ally to Modern Day Slavery

My name means dark-skinned.

What is your class

to a Queen whose first mothers

were raven diamonds?

What is your stamp,

your fire stoked iron,

your tomb of equal sides?

I don’t fit there.

I was made infinite,

cosmic.

Be in awe

or be in envy

but do not consider I can be housed

Thrust my hand in deep

and whip the flaming embers of the ignorance

from the darkness for all to see.

 I am a fire starter.

 A ground shaking,

womanist in the making.

Duck for cover, I am a wild combustion of flint and flare.

I dare the patriarchy with my very existence.
