Real People #66: A proud baker just outside of Yerevan, in a tiny, hot bakery. Proof that the Armenians take their bread seriously. Photo courtesy of our friend Esther-Maria.

Amazing view on a graveyard of a village that disappeared under and artificial lake.
Drinking wine while watching the sunset on the Nile.
Real People #64: A service in an Armenian Church in Sanahin. The Armenian Church is one of the oldest surviving churches; it’s a pleasure observing the devout participants.
I was going over my photos from the last Uganda trip and came across this. It's the Birdsnest Hotel at Lake Bunyonyi, creatively decorated with recycled and sustainable materials. It also has one of those self-cleaning pools, powered by plants. Cannot wait to be back there with a group this January and canoe on the lake.

Real People #62: Children basking in the light from a tiny opening in the ceiling at Gedhard, one of the UNESCO protected monasteries in Armenia. Looking at them, it’s easy to believe the ray of light might have special powers. #realpeople #encounters #Armenia
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. -Lao Tzu #journey #travel
Real people #61: This summer Danny met his body double at the Hellenic era Garni temple, in Armenia, not far from Yerevan. The funniest thing is that this guy was from Finland, traveling with two buddies in the Caucasus.

The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. Christopher McCandless

Endless reasons why we love Turkey so much to travel. An interior design of Eminonu Mosque in Istanbul
I took visitors this summer to a protected area close to where I grew up but had never visited. Funny how you often miss the beautiful places that just happen to be too close to you.
