Shocking, Isn't It?

Someone: you are a doctor

Lovely. It was raining. While the families and their assorted children milled around with their umbrellas, those that didn’t have one filed into the big-top early. Because of the crowd’s demographic, the Entity found themselves people-watching, looking for signs of family oddities, maybe crumbling marriages, and perhaps the odd brat-child that was going to get sent to military school next summer. It was almost like the humans were the sideshows here, not THEM. So when they spied a lone African-American man in the crowd, he stood out like a sore thumb. He was looking at each of the beings, studying them one by one, and even eagerly asking the burnt-out carnies questions about them. They didn’t realize how long they’d been intently watching him until he turned around and their eyes met, and he began walking towards them.

Carter was sure he was already annoying the circus employees despite having not even been there for an hour. Apparently they had no patience for people sticking their nose into the circus’s business, especially when asking about the sideshows. He just wanted to run some basic, not overly disruptive tests on them to test their cognitive abilities and they had denied him. And the last had been very rude in denying him.

He turned around, dejected, deciding to come back later. Perhaps then there would be someone who would be more willing to listen to reason... Probably not but it was worth a try. He raised his eyes, realising that one of the ‘employees’ in a cage was staring at him. 

He wondered how long they’d been staring at him, pausing for a moment before heading over to them cautiously. Carter was sure that if anyone caught him here he would be removed from the premises immediately but his curiosity had gotten the better of him.

“I…uh.” The Doctor was closing in on her. Claudette frantically looked around for an escape but ran out of time. There was nowhere to go, Carter was only a few feet away from her. Close enough for her to feel his hot breath on her face. He was way too close for comfort.

“I-I’m alright. I…can walk there myself.”

Working up the nerve, she forced herself off the wall and tried to sidle around him to escape. Maybe if she was smooth enough in her intent he wouldn’t say anything.

“Oh no, Miss Morel, I insist!” He giggled, blocking off her exit with weapon before bringing it dangerously close to her face. 

It was always fun to toy with the survivors and to leave them guessing about if he was going to actually let them go or not. It was more common for him to not allow them to escape, but he’d still done it enough times that it was certainly a possibility.
