Here’s a question for the people who have never been addicted to opiates and used methadone, but somehow have convinced themselves they’re an authority and can say that methadone is just like heroin, which makes zero fucking sense.

If methadone gets you high SO good, why aren’t heroin addicts lining up at methadone clinics en masse? Guaranteed daily dose, avoid withdrawal, no cravings, cheaper by A LOT, monitoring by a doctor, no sketchy dealers who will beat, rob, or rape you, legal, etc. And yet… They aren’t?? You know why? Because it’s not fucking like heroin, not even close. The significantly reduced high is too huge of a huge trade off. That’s how much of a difference it is. Street methadone is only useful to people who aren’t addicts or people who are desperate to avoid withdrawal or want to have a back up, but it’s not for the minuscule high.

Methadone doesn’t get you high like heroin. At best in your first few months of treatment you’ll get a slight buzz about as strong as a caffeine buzz. It provides no rush. End of story. Get ANY idea out of your head that methadone is like, sort of like, is kind of like, is similar to, is just like, and whatever else like, heroin. The only time “Methadone” “like” and “Heroin” should be in the same sentence is if that sentence is, “Methadone is not anything whatsoever like heroin.”
