The Liberation of Pətzkoyan

in regards to sovereignty, the small nation of Pətzkoyan has found itself in difficult times throughout Osrisian history.

situated entirely in a small rift within the inner Kason mountain range it has become virtually stuck between the northern halves of Imaktikhza and Aegonos, both of which have over the ages vied for control over the small patch of land not only for any of the Kason's endemic resources, but also for a passageway through the mountains, as Pətzkoyan's position is at one of the range's thinnest points.

much to the chagrin of the native Pətzkoyan people, they came under solid Imak control not much sooner than Khet-Sono's victory in Siđa, and remained as an integrated territory for essentially all of the 5th cycle, being used as a strategic point for Imak entry into the Kason and Tekarsic lands, as well as a red-herring political bargaining chip.

Imak rule for the Pətzkoyans was an uneasy affair.

though starting out as somewhat hands-off, the kingdom imposed heftier restrictions and claimed exclusive use over important infrastructure as time went on, alongside a inevitable cultural clash, which resulted in a prolonged and partially-successful attempt of cultural Imakization.

the middle 5th cycle also saw significant recruitment of Pətzkoyans to engage in the Thunder War, the Invasion of Viot, and to some extent even the Khavan revolts.

the entire cycle was a tumultuous time, and though many attempts have been made to resist the occupiers, nothing substantial has been achieved, as the region was severely underdeveloped in comparison, lacking the material and organizational means to make a dent, until opportunity came knocking from the south.

when in 6/104 the new Aegon government aimed it's sights at Imaktikhza, Ureio understood that she needed to make decisive moves to not only capture it's capital, but to simultaneously attack the north and prevent Imak forces from simply moving up to seek refuge among the cliffs and cause more damage from there.

Pətzkoyan was the perfect terrestrial entry point, but by this time it had already been a heavily fortified border for the Imaks, so she resorted to seeking help from the only other people interested in such a notion - the Pətzkoyans themselves.

Ureio would, through covert means, establish communications with prominent underground anti-jaxta figureheads, crafting plots and smuggling in weapons to enable the creation of a paramilitary force that could act as a distracting and destabilizing factor, allowing the Aegon to more easily invade.

this proved more effective than she had anticipated, as once the militia attacks began, they were relentless. Imak military forces were harassed at night, parts of military installations and fortifications were demolished through improvised explosives, small tunnel systems allowed Aegon soldiers to pass through unseen in some areas. an incursion from the inside on such a scale was not expected, and made way for an invasion proper in a very brief amount of time, far before the Imaks could afford to mobilize a force to back up the Pətzkoyan governorate.

Pətzkoyan was officially declared 'liberated' on the 2. 4. of Kaeto in 6/104, during a public ceremony which saw a religious procession hailing the dawn of a new period, and elevating Ureio to the status of a saint in the eyes of many - a perception that still persists to this day due to setrist ancestral deification.

Jared Stetson was by all means a normal civilian. a pencil-pusher working in the marketing department of some company or another, a no-name like most others.

but one day, having been caught between the crossfire of two metahumans, he came out of the ordeal cursed with the power to alter probability around himself. not knowing how to control this power, his life began falling into shambles, as he began suffering socially, professionally and materialistically.

in an attempt to fix his life and cope with his newfound situation, he created for himself the identity of "Inconvenience Man", an attempt to assume a humorous identity and be the "silly hero in the room". with this he would become registered as a crime-fighter by Paragon, unknowing or perhaps willfully ignorant of the slew of issues that were to come.
