her eyes scan the entire refrigerator. there are grapes, cherries, a bowl of mixed cut up fruits. some veggies, which she avoids entirely, only eating them when joyce cooks... she knows she wouldn't get away with pushing them around her plate. -- everything in here looks healthy, for the most part. eyebrows furrowing as she attempts to find something good.. "are you preparing for a herd of rabbits to raid your fridge? there are so many fruits and vegetables." she said as if it were a crime, and then her eyes spot a container of left over chinese. after opening and investigating, she lets out a noise of satisfaction. "noodles.. perfect." not even heating them up she grabs a fork and begins shoveling them into her mouth.
finally turning her attention back to deena, waiting to hear whatever she wanted to say about hopper. max knew he let her get away with far more than he ever should.
"thrown through a wall? that's a tad dramatic, don't you think?" she couldn't help but chuckle around the bite of food. already feeling ten times better. it had been a while since she had anything substantial.
"my entire survival depends on you so graciously allowing me you're last cherry coke. -- the demogorgons, and other supernatural beings couldn't take me down... but you, deena... someone i thought cared -- is just going to watch me take my last breath." now, she was the one being dramatic.
max couldn't help but pause after she swallowed that last bite. it was weird, she was here, and she wasn't actually worried... not about dying -- not about ... anything. it was almost unsettling the peace she felt, so unsettling that she had to stop herself from freaking out.
"one redhead? no way, there has to be at least three to five more... i cannot be the ONLY one... can i?" now she was trying to think of one..
any other redhead that she knew in hawkins..
"please, you're just mad that you're not as adorable as i am." she stuck out her tongue, before scooping in another bite. deena was going to have no more noodles when she was done. her free hands moving to catch the box of cookies, and crushing them to her side. not enough to break them -- almost as if they'd disappear if she loosened her grip.
"these have nutritional value, i think i had a few pieces of chicken.. that's protein. and these cookies? dairy..." she shrugged. "the cherry coke is safe, but hopper might not believe you -- i'm an angel." even max had to fight the laughter that wanted to escape as she obviously lied.
