Wow. It's been a while. This year has been rough and I suppose I've neglected my art and my posts. Lots of health and money issues... maybe I can force myself to create some more and try to get things back on track again...

Wow. It's been a while. This year has been rough and I suppose I've neglected my art and my posts. Lots of health and money issues... maybe I can force myself to create some more and try to get things back on track again...
My artwork of the âTriassic Cuddleâ fossil: remains of an amphibian Broomistega nestled against a synapsid Thrinaxodon, with a debated explanation to how they ended up together. The romanticized tale being that in the terror of the Great Dying, just about the most extreme mass extinction ever on Earth, these two unfortunate creates cuddled together in a burrow before being suddenly drowned in a flash flood. Though the time of death alone is questioned, it makes for a tragic yet warming story of comfort between species.
This piece is based on an animation I came across on youtube: the Triassic Cuddle Animation. If I am not mistaken, it is by beetlerat. I thought it was sweet and simple but poignant animation so I sat down and created this on a emotionally charged whim. The anatomy is adjusted to be generally scientific though I am sure I could put a lot more work into a well studied anatomic illustration but I felt that wasnât needed here.

Here I tested a new (to me) art program: âRebelle 5.â This started as a black and white sketch which evolved into testing the oil brush effect along with a bit of a color experiment. Most of my art consists of some sort of experiment as some of you may notice. JĂłzef is yet another figure that does not have many adequate references easily available online, so it is once again a combination of multiple images in order to create a slightly new perspective.
 - Robespierre was one of the lead members of the Committee of Public Safety and was deeply involved in the infamous Reign of Terror in which thousands of people were executed by guillotine. History has painted very mixed views on figures such as him, so I found it to be a interesting project to approach.
To read a bit on my general opinion and approach on the struggle of reproducing his face, feel free to keep reading below:
I sought to use paintings as primary and the purported deathmask as secondary sources to create Robespierreâs likeness. I had actually set the project aside for many months as I wasnât happy with the overall quality of my initial version and contemplated giving up and trying again later. Eventually I reworked it and got to a state in which I was content with completing. Overall I tried a few new techniques and tried to put more effort into the clothing this time around.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my views on this historic figure.
This last year Iâve been a bit dodgy about posting art so I am going to pick that back up and get it rolling again. Here is a belated Halloween picture- a Cult of the Lamb fanart of my loyal Enforcer. Fanart is popular so... here you folks go! Stay tuned for more cartoony art and some historic art as well!
We had to write a Mini Comic for my Illustration Class so I did mine based on The Frog and The Scorpion. Hopefully you all know the story!Â
But if you donât know the story⊠In the original the scorpion stings the frog in the middle of the river. When the frog asks âwhyâ the scorpion says âitâs in my natureâ and they both die. I like my ending more.
Me and my twin brother often state the âItâs in my nature!â comment as an absurdist joke in response to things with the same view that itâs a bit ridiculous to just arbitrarily commit actions without restraint.

â When I find myself falling, and I hit the bottom,
It only makes me laughâ
âI don't know if it's right or wrong, to laugh at misfortune,
Darkness can never last too longâ
- Danny ElfmanÂ
Itâs been a little while since Iâve posted.. I made this when listening to a bunch of Oingo Boingo, one of which is âIt Only Makes Me Laugh" which conjures up thoughts of Hyenas and their supposed laugh sound.
Squawking cries amidst the diming autumn sunset and illuminated under the glowing harvest moon, this beastly scarecrow marks the approach of Halloween.
This image was started with a comic book style in mind along with further experimentation with the vector tools in ClipStudioPaint. It was a fun project and I plan on testing more with this sort of high contrast style.
I know itâs been a little while, so... hereâs Frollo! I had drawn him once 5 years ago, and this is a huge improvement. I thought of doing more but this was just a quickie.

I feel Americans see him as a distant vague figure. Â In perspective, George Washington was mourned in France in 1799, and Abraham Lincoln was 12 years old in 1821.
History is complicated, and we canât put an easy title on something as good or evil. In the end, for better or for worse, we are all human.
