Similarities:

Powerful immortal who rules a territory falls in love with a mortal  ✓

Mortal is turned into immortal through unconventional means  ✓

Immortal has inner circle  ✓

Inner circle has a number of unusual/rare individuals in it  ✓

Mortal has a shitty past/ have shitty things happen to them  ✓

Mortal has to traverse the immortal world as the immortal’s mate and has to adapt pretty quick  ✓

Territories each ruled by different immortals    ✓

Have to fight a war that they don’t know they’ll win  ✓

Mortal has family issues  ✓

Differences:

GH is angels and vampires not faeries BUT an interesting take on them! The world is run by Archangels (like the high lords) and angels make the vampires, who have to serve an angel for 100 years after being made.

Significant power difference which is addressed throughout (GH), mortal is not instantly powerful which is actually really nice.

Much larger age difference (if you don’t like that I wouldn’t bother reading GH tbh, I’m talking 1000+ year differences).

The eqivelant inner circle in GH actually get love interests that are super cute.

GH has a lot more angst and a lot more smut (depending on the book)

There are currently 10 GH books.

GH is set on modern day Earth, mainly in New York but also elsewhere including India depending on the books and characters.

Nalini Singh is a very inclusive author with numerous poc characters from around the world including main characters and the more powerful characters, there are a couple of LGBT characters mentioned in passing but not in a major sense. There is also a quadriplegic character who isn’t the object of pity and has built a life for himself where other characters value him immensely.
