I left Phoenix and headed to Joshua Tree National Park, it was a very pretty place, but it was so ridiculously crowded it felt like Disney land. still it was nice hiking, I couldn't camp there though so I kept going. I made my way across the state line to California. I intended to camp somewhere around Big Bear Lake. Once I got up there in the mountains I was amazed at how beautiful it was. 40°F out with the whole north side of the mountain still having a thick layer of snow on it. All camping areas where closed to after spending a while there admiring the scenery I decided to ride the rest of the way to so family I had out there. heading down the mountain from Big Bear was quite the trip though. The roads where wet with the snow melt all around, and clouds where making visibility very low.

Leaving silver city I made my way to phoenix AZ through Globe, it was 32°F out when I left silver city but luckily I had heated gear on. on the way there I saw my first snow capped mountain Mt Graham. In Phoenix I stopped at the Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park. had a lot of fun there and took some of my favorite pictures.

Leaving Holloman lake, I headed over to White Sands National Park. I have never seen such a pure white landscape, aside form the thick blanket of snow that covered Flagstaff one winter I was there. I left White Sands (I had sand in my boots for the rest of the trip) and headed to Silver city. if you ever are in the area it is a beautiful town with lot's to do and see. The Big Ditch is a park though the middle of town which has a mural telling the history of the town. I stayed at the Palace Hotel and spoke to some travelers from all different parts of the US over breakfast the next day. we exchanged stories and wished each other well.

Leaving Dog Canyon Campground I road to Cloudcroft New Mexico where I saw snow for the first time that trip, I stopped to see the Mexican Canyon Railroad Trestle. I planed on camping in the mountains up there but it was going to be in the low 20s over night so I continued on. I stopped at the Alameda Park Zoo in Alamogordo. it's a lovely little zoo and the oldest in the southwest, founded in 1898. that night I camped on the shore of Holloman lake.

Leaving Davis Mountains Preserve I headed north to Guadalupe Mountains National Park. This was the first of many national parks / monuments I visited on my trip. I checked in at the main entrance then headed around the the far less visited north side of the park. To get to the north side you have to drive 100 miles around the mountains and through New Mexico. that day and did some hiking and camped in Dog Canyon Campground.

This trip started in the Spring of 2019. I road my motorcycle for a month starting in east Texas , first camp was on the shore of Amistad Reservoir. (no pictures) From there I went to the Davis Mountains Preserve in west Texas to camp for the night. I'll post one of these a day for a while
