Our contributor applications are now open, and you can apply at this Google form! They'll be open until July 15th at 7PM PST, so you have a whole month to apply!

If you haven't heard of our zine before, hi! Plurality Zine is a zine focused around all things plurality, both in real life and fiction, set to come out in late February 2027 if all goes well.

The zine will feature illustrations, writing and other creative works focused around, as we said before, all things plurality, created by contributors, which, as said before, applications are open for!

Today's queer zine of the day is Discourse Queen by Gender0Bender.

To some extent queer people have always hated one another. It happens when you are raised not loving yourself, and then confronted with others like yourself. It's easier to bash other queers than love and accept them.

Forty Kinds of Trouble: A Parker + Grofield Zine

"The story you have just read draws from a variety of sources close to our hearts. First and foremost comes, of course, Richard Stark’s The Handle – the final page of which we adapt as the beginning of our tale – but that’s not the entirety of Westlake-Stark’s contribution to Forty Kinds of Trouble. Mr. Westlake’s early years writing ‘sleaze’ greatly influenced his work on Parker and what he’d once referred to as ‘euphemism novels’ in turn form the foundation of our work here. The fascination of Parker’s character, the subtextual tension, the constant presence of outsiders and Parker’s status as one all come from the daring and deviant pages of pulp fiction." (x)

It's always my greatest honor and pleasure to work with my amazingly talented partner everywhere @redstoneofaja -- it's not often you get to work with your favorite artist in the universe, let alone consistently create the art you've always dreamed of making.

Ben Schwartz digital zine

Theme: Ben Schwartz characters in the wrong Ben Schwartz universe (ie: Sonic in the sewer with the turtles, Tony Scarapiducci dealing with the Lobos and Dracula, Jean Ralphio ninth grade ninja)

Art: drawings, sketches, doodles, collages, short fic (think one shot or drabble)

No AI. Must be your original fanwork creation.

You must clearly state how you’d like to be credited and please title your creation (there will be a credits page)

It means nothing but I will hype the sh!t out of your art. No required skill level. Just bring your love of Ben/Ben characters and let it translate

Deadline August 31 (3 months away!) The goal is for completion by Ben’s birthday in September.

I will be piecing it together with EZM and posting both on itch.io as a free download fully credited and here on tumblr as images with instructions on how to fold if printed. I will also email the files to everyone who submits.

Style and size will depend on number of submissions. Anyone who would like a hand in designing the layout once all pieces are received can message me.

When an artist shares their work for free online, it can be easy to assume the art is free for everyone else to use too. So you grab it and include it in your own project, and all of a sudden an artist is mad at you, their fans are calling you out, you’re getting threatened with legal action—or even scarier, the artist’s publisher is threatening you with legal action. One-shot comics and minicomics are especially susceptible to this misunderstanding because often they are seen as viral memes instead of art, or treated as public property. But is this really the case? This guide will help you navigate using art you’ve found online. We’ll start with three basic questions: 1. Do I need to ask permission from the artist? 2. Do I need to give credit to the artist? 3. Do I need to pay the artist? After that, we’ll offer some tips on how to approach the artist.

I wrote an article for Cartoonists United! CU has a great collection of resources to help the art community, and I was really excited to contribute.

If you don't know whether it's safe to use a piece of art you found online, if you don't know how to ask permission to use art, and if you are unsure of how to approach artists, read the article!

And if you're an artist who frequently finds your work being used without permission, spread this around so more people know the etiquette around using art online!
