This is officially my SECOND post on Tumblr and I'm kinda new here, pretty nervous btw. An introduction is due;

So, hi, I'm Z. Nocturne. "Z" stands for Zii, pretty basic (it's my pen name) and I'm 19 years old.

I've mostly dabbled in thriller and fantasy, but I'm trying my hand at romance. Overthinking fictional people has become a hobby of sorts 😔. Getting emotionally attached to my own characters is an issue too, but what can I do? Those are my BABIES!! Oh, and collecting enough playlists to soundtrack several lifetimes.

This blog will be like a mixture of:

☾ writing updates & snippets

☾ original characters (I love my OCs. Especially when I make them invade shows)

☾ books that alter my brain chemistry

☾ sweet treats and pretty things

☾ music, memes, and the occasional existential thought

☾ whatever made me stop scrolling for more than three seconds

Expect questionable life choices (made exclusively by my characters.. probably some by me), aesthetic reblogs, and moments where I disappear because I'm busy arguing with a chapter that refuses to cooperate.

My ask box is always open if you want to talk about books, writing, music, or simply yell about fictional people together. Speaking of music, I've got an expansive range. I like what I like.

They turned down a narrower passage that opened onto a smaller, more sheltered platform. A young male waited there, leaning against the wall with the restless energy of someone who had been told to stay put and hated every second of it.

He was large, nearly as tall as Aric, broader through the shoulders, still carrying the slight awkwardness of someone who had not fully grown into his own strength. His wings were a rich bronze-brown, the feathers not yet as dark or as menacing as Aric’s. Messy dark hair fell into his eyes. He bounced once on the balls of his feet when he saw them, then caught himself and straightened.

The moment his gaze landed on Seraphina, the bounce died.

His eyes went wide. The resemblance hit him with visible force. His mouth opened, then closed. He looked from her face to Aric and back again, the question already forming on his tongue.

Aric’s stare settled on him like a blade.

Kestran shut his mouth so fast his teeth clicked. Whatever he had been about to say died under that look. He swallowed, wings twitching once with leftover energy, and managed a rough, “High Talon.”

“This is Kestran,” Aric said, voice flat. “He will see that you have what you need. Clothes. Food. Anything else within reason.”

He glanced at the younger eagle. “She is under my protection. You will treat her accordingly.”

Kestran nodded hard, still clearly fighting the urge to stare. His size made the barely contained energy almost comical, like a large, overgrown fledgling forced to stand still when every muscle wanted to move. He shifted his weight, feathers ruffling, then forced them flat again.

“Yes, High Talon.” His voice was younger than his frame suggested. He risked another quick look at Seraphina and immediately looked away when Aric’s eyes narrowed.

Another snippet introducing a new character: 𝐊𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍!!

I got tired of omegaverse/ABO 😔. I really enjoy the genre though but I wanted something different. Which is why I decided to lock in and start working on a bird hybrid x human romance.

I'm gonna have em laying eggs and there's NOTHING anyone can do to stop me ദ്ദി(˵•̀ ᴗ -˵)

(I swear I'm kidding about the eggs 😭)

The room was large and sparsely furnished. Dark stone walls rose into a vaulted ceiling marked by old claw and weather stains. A long table of black wood stood to one side, its surface bare and faintly dusty. Tall openings without glass faced the open sky, letting the constant wind move freely through the space. In the deepest part of the chamber, away from the light, a high-backed chair of carved stone and dark leather faced the endless drop. Above it rose a pair of great wings, the feathers so deep a brown-black they seemed to drink what little light reached them.

Aric did not turn.

“You were not summoned,” he said. His voice was quiet, low, and carried the kind of authority that did not need volume. It simply occupied the room.

The hawk kept his eyes lowered and his wings tightly folded. “High Talon. The council sends word. There has been a breach.”

A soft shift of feathers. Still Aric did not rise.

“A barrier fluctuation is not worth climbing this far. Handle it according to standing protocol and leave.”

“It is not a fluctuation.” The hawk paused, choosing the next words with care. “A human. Alive. Found on the lower cliffs this same day. The crows brought her directly to the council hall. They wait on your decision.”

Silence stretched. The wind moved through the chamber and lifted the edges of the dark feathers in a slow, restless ripple. Somewhere far below, a cry of another avian carried and faded.

Another snippet (⁠◕⁠ᴗ⁠◕⁠✿⁠). I've managed to think of a name for the story after countless opinions. "Thin Air".

A ripple of agreement moved through parts of the chamber. Other voices rose in opposition. Some calling for interrogation, some for immediate execution, a few for simply throwing her back through whatever hole she had fallen from and hoping the barrier sealed behind her. Seraphina stood frozen in the center of it, watching these beings decide her fate.

She was still trying to force her mind into order when a crow hybrid near the front spoke over the noise.

“We cannot decide this without the Eagle Clan.” The chamber quieted a fraction.

“The High Talon,” someone else said, and the title carried weight. “This is avian territory. The breach happened under their sky. Protocol requires his word.”

A few expressions tightened. One of the falcons made a sharp, dismissive gesture.

“He will not come. He has not attended council in years. He barely acknowledges the rest of us exist.”

“Then we send for him anyway,” the hawk replied. “The law is the law. A human in the Realms is not a minor matter. If the High Talon refuses to appear, that is his choice. But he will be informed, and he will give an answer.”

Seraphina’s head was spinning. High Talon. Eagle Clan. The words meant nothing and everything at once. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to stop the fine trembling in her hands. No one had bound her. They did not seem to think she required it. The drop beyond the open arches was persuasion enough.

A little snippet of the story I'm working on. PRAY I don't get writer's block 🥲
