Now, here's the deal about those soulmarks: It's very much Not a "soulmate soulmark" thing, but a "your skin will be painted with colourful soulmarks born from strong bonds with people (both platonic and romantic)"

So Judge, ofc, raises his kids with the pressure of never gaining soul marks and making them incapable of giving others soul marks.

The first sign that STH is wrong with Sanji is his ability to gain and give soulmarks (he gives all of his siblings one when they're toddlers - pretty mixes of gold + his siblings colours: red and gold on Ichiji's left eye, gold and blue, almost like a flower on Niji's left cheek, gold and pink on Reiju's right knee and gold and green on Yonji's right hand like a fingerless glove).

But once Judge breaks that bond, the soulmarks disappear, and then he does his damnest so they'll never come back (as well as make sure that the siblings don't accidentally end up giving each other soulmarks).

Which works pretty well, all things considered.

Until Ichiji ends up crossing paths again and again with Ace, and once I manage to put Ichiji out of commission and force him to stay with the spades, Ace becomes the first person (in Ichiji's memory) to give him a soulmark (red and black and that goes from his left arm - where Ace has his tattoo - up his shoulder and curling around his neck).
