Chreon makes me so fucking insane. Chris and his savior thing and Leon being the one who made it out of RC with Claire, Chris' baby sister, who he raised. Them both being orphaned young. Both of them in the military young. Both experiencing something awful, unnatural, and are in the fight forever after. Both of them having struggled with alcohol. Both of them having survivor's guilt. Both of them losing teams, losing friends. Both of them wanting to give up. Both of them seeing their country and government for what it is, and yet still trying to help, still fighting for something better. Their first on-screen meeting being a fight so fluid it looks like a dance, because they see eachother often enough to spar, and they're equals. The fact that Chris barely remembered himself, that he was angry and combative to even Piers, but the moment he sees Leon he not only knows him, but trusts him. Leon explicitly gives that trust right back. The fact that Chris just knew where Leon was on vacation, or had the ability to find out easily. The fact that he comes back to talk to him, that they share about losing their teams, that they talk about being similar. Chris tells him he used to be funny, and when we see Leon with Chris next, he's the goofiest we've ever seen him. When they were infected on that island and Leon, sick and dying, uses some of his last energy to crawl to Chris' cell on the floor and sit in front of it. The fact that they both had twisted relationships with their old bosses who later kill people they care about (or are responsible for it), and they then have to kill those old bosses. Leon with Krauser and Luis. Chris with Wesker and Piers. Ships or not, their respective relationships with those men are clearly deeply complicated and parallel eachother. Different tragedies, but all too similar. Their stupid matching watches. The fucking matching coats. Wolf mode for Leon and Chris in Hound Wolf Squad. The fact that they both had a hand in founding the organizations they're now watching decay and collapse with the same greed and indignation as the forces they fight. The fact that Leon knowingly accepted Chris' help in RE9. Who the hell else was Sherry supposed to call, John Wick? It wasn't going to be the DSO. Leon knew it was Chris Redfield coming to his rescue. And he welcomed it. Admits it would've gone better if Chris had been there with him, instead. They canonically have so much respect and trust in one another, even when they're both being total jackasses. They both have so much drive and love and fight and light in them, despite the absolute horror they've endured for decades. They throw it back in it's face. They're married to me. They're endgame to me. They're puzzle pieces that only fit eachother. They're the sun and moon. Two sides of the same coin. Chreon.
