Well, apparently Amadiz lied about being a sculptor. People found the 3D model he used (made minimal changes to eyes/lips/jaw) priced at 15USD. So much for his lies that he worked on this doll for 2 years.

I put off saying anything about this last night, to come up with something eloquent enough when I got up in the morning, but honestly when it comes down to it: this is just incredibly depressing to see… for someone to blatantly steal credit like this. I wonder if the actual, original sculptor knows Georg Ramensky has been taking full credit for being the sculptor? I can’t read Russian, so I can’t really look at the original page, but I’m assuming it wasn’t a “you pay $17 to do anything you want”? Stuff like this, I believe, tends to be more for personal use…? I didn’t care much for much of Amadiz products since I previously knew that their quality control was often less than acceptable for their wigs, especially for their products price ranges, but I thought their dolls were pretty if nothing else - knowing this, however… It’s pretty damning and says so much, nothing of which is good. I suppose at the end of the day, on the “bright side,” from my understanding, someone attain the files for a pretty head for under $20 and print it off if they have access to a 3d printer, though…? I’m not even sure if that’s a “bright side” but it’s the only thing I can think of right now.
Yes, unless he bought the rights to use the 3D print design for business purposes, its definetly theft. I dont know the details of his purchase agreement but as he hasnt given any indication of source and he has attempted to change the design, I would say its likely its stolen. Im sure more info will come out in the next few days.
I really don’t know how to think about this °_° Did they make a statement yet?
lets looks at Creative Commons rules and the 3D printing world.
In this case we don’t have all the info becuase the file sharing site the original model is on lacks some of the indicators other sites like Thingiverse have, but in the case of a model this robust, one would assume the original designer would at the very least like to be credited in some form or another with the basic Creative Commons and Attribution lic. attached to it. Unless the model author comes forward and confirms what levels of CC licencing are attached to it we’ll never know.
Below are the basic CC rules, along with the possible attached augmented rules that *could* be applied to this model.
The basic CC lic. affords you the following: Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
On top of this the licensor (model designer can attach the following) Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
and/or NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes. No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
Now 3D printing has introduced some grey areas, because printer time and filament costs can be quantified people can, and do charge for printing services of models that are not their own. (we’ve acted as a printing service for several follower). However this is different than claiming the model is yours, and selling it under the guise of it being your work. As long as you aren’t re-selling a product that has the non commercial tag on it for profit, you still fall with in the creative commons lic.
Knowing all of the above, we can take away a best and worst case scenario for this whole thing.
“Best” case: If it only had basic CC attached, however shady and shitty it is, no law has been broken as far as CC is concerned. He did hwoever lie to his customers about how this sculpt came about- but thats a different can of worms.
Worst case: The model had not only basic CC, but it also had Attribution AND NonCommercial lic. attached to it which mean’s he’s committed theft and legal recourse is probably applicable in some form or another. I’d really like to know what level of CC was attached to this.
This is good to know.
So no matter how this turns out, if this model was used as a base for their doll, it does not bode well for their business. The iffy quality control on their wigs already made me hesitant. But now, unless proof to the contrary is provided, no way I’m buying anything from them.
@ethravii-bjd
Check out @amadizreality they have tons of proof of this posted on the blog.
Yep, just read through it. This is pretty damning. Seems DoA has been made aware of it as well, but without word from the maker of the model, not much they can really do.
At any rate, the actual doll looks far to similar to the model for it to be coincidence or even a case of inspiration. Unless Amadiz can provide some kind of proof, this is likely not going to end well…
It’s funny how people want to hear “other sides” of the story while there is none. Georg Ramensky has quite a reputation in the Russian bjd-community: he is a well-known bully, scandalist and a liar. And it’s not the first time he takes something from someone else and makes it seem like a product or idea of his own. Some time ago one of the members of the BJD-club forum (Russian version of DoA) posted a picture of her doll in the blue velvet dress clearly inspired by the famous television show “Magnificent Century”. Georg suddenly appeared in the discussion under that picture and started to insult and mock that poor girl because she didn’t credit him as an author and the source of inspiration for that dress because his studio made similar dress sometime before. He acted so mean and so weird so that situation was made public and widely discussed in Russian anonymous bjd-leaks blog. It was pretty obvious for everyone that while both of the gowns had the same color scheme (blue velvet dress with a pale yellow undershirt) its design was clearly not made by Georg. Because it’s a historical design! People even made jokes about it: does he want to claim himself as an author of all the dresses of that period? But he kept arguing and insulting that poor girl and other people who were weirded by his aggressive and bullying behavior which he shows like all the time. The funny and also a sad thing is that it was not the first time something like that happened. Beforehand Georg made accusations towards - guess who? - Ipplehouse for stealing his design! Should I tell you that it was another “ Magnificent Century” inspired dress? His behavior is kinda repetitive and always aggressive. He likes to bully people, likes to argue, likes to steal things and lie-lie-lie. So Russian bjd-community had enough of that shit. Wonder how funny it was to actually find out that he was not an author of his dolls? The bodies of his dolls are also not made by him: it’s a compilation of body parts made by different 3D modelers.
The original sculptor of the head, Ivan Plastmaska, has an instagram: https://www.instagram.com/plastmaska/ Perhaps one of the DoA mods can get a hold of him there? It might be rough if they don’t have someone who knows Russian, but it might be worth looking into…
Ivan has released a statement on his instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BZelM9bgD9N/?taken-by=plastmaska “Friends, because of one of my photos there was an unpleasant situation in the BJD (Ball Jointed Doll) community. My friend, talented artist Georgy Ramensky was accused of not doing his own dolls himself, but buying from somebody 3d-maker Ivan Plastmanska, i.e. I have. Our cooperation lasts about a year. During this time, I was organized work of complex technical equipment, taking into account the specifics of printing master-models for dolls. Print master-models in a layer-by-layer fusing method (FDM). To improve the quality of master-models introduced in the production of photopolymer 3D-printing. All creative work, ideas from the general concept up to buttons on clothes of dolls belongs to George. He independently models his ideas in Zbrush, I, in turn, continue to help with 3D-printing of master-models. Everyone is engaged in his own business, I’m technical support, all creative work is carried out by George, this is his ideas, his models and his creativity.” Amadiz Studio has also released a statement on their facebook: https://www.facebook.com/amadizstudio/ (post has been edited to account for typos) “My Magdalena Old Head and hand was stolen!I am very grateful to one of my customer, because without her help I could not learn that my work was stolen and illegally used. My wife and I were very shocked by all the slander and lies that are written in this post: http://truebjdconfessions.tumblr.com/…/re-amadiz-studio-usi… Ivan Plastmaska is my friend, and I’m his regular customer, now he prints all my 3d models for me on his printer, all 3d-models I painted completely myself. All evidence of my authorship I have. Ivan prepare a statement that he knows about my authorship and place it on his Instagram & FB, I also will write about this situation on all official resources of Amadiz Studio soon. His post: https://www.facebook.com/iplastmaska/posts/479378749084911 […above quote from Ivan Plastamasta, already mentioned] Everyone is engaged in his own business, I’m technical support, all creative work is carried out by Georgy, this is his ideas, his models and his creativity.“Ivan is not the author of the 3d model from this site: http://3dtoday.ru/…/t…/sharnirnaya_kukla_sharnirnye_sustavy/it is Sergei Shapovalov (PoToLo) who somehow got my very first model of Magdalena head and her hand. Everything else in this work has nothing to do with me (it’s not our Amadiz Angels body! My work is much more detailed and full another), but Sergei really used the model of the hand and head created by me. 2 year (2015) ago I sent my hand and head files to many 3D printing companies to find out the cost of printing. Unfortunately, I could not imagine that my own files could be stolen and altered to sell. I bless God now that I sent to these 3d printing companies so few details, otherwise my full doll could be completely stolen by one of their employees.I filed a complaint on 3today.ru against Sergei Shapovalov and proved my authorship of Magdalena head, the 3D MODEL WAS DELETED by administration. once again I thank my customer for the fact that I was able to learn about this terrible situation and I can solve it. All the screenshots of doll of my authorship I provided to the administration of Den of Angels, when we released Magdalena, these people know that I’m not lying. And it hurts me that someone could doubt my authorship. I put a lot of work and love into this doll and never deceived anyone.People who hate us and have created a resource on anonymous tumblr to slander and insult any of our work, from Russia, they write an exceptional lie on their own resources to destroy our reputation, and not allow us to create dolls. They promised that they would destroy our company Amadiz Studio with the help of anonymous harassment. It’s very hart for us, but all we can do is do what we love, and never stop to make beautiful things. It started 2 months ago after I made a confession in my personal russian online-diary that I’m a transgender, they began to offend me and call me mentally ill person. They created the special russian community and tumblr group dedicated to hatred for us and are cruelly persecuting, insulting me and my wife. They also accuse me of not creating my own dolls myself and all our wigs are defective, and clothes made from old dirty things. Although this is a lie. We suffered a lot of pain and shed many tears, seeing this lie and insults, but we were strong and decided that we would not react in any way to the terrible behavior of these people and their hatred, since we did not want any scandals. We earned a very good reputation for 5 years of unremitting work and never lied to our customers. But now I can not keep silent and endure, this lie has gone too far. Nobody will dare to take from me the authorship of what I did with my own hands, for my dolls I will fight.I really need your help to stop the lies and slander. We want to be saved from these people until they ruined my life and took away the opportunity to make my dolls that I love so much. No one deserves such cruelty. I thank you for your support and I promise that I will never let you doubt our honesty.Sincerely yours, Georgy.“ As such, it seems that whoever had the model for sale, appears to have been someone that Georg approached to find out the costs of how much it would be to print Magdalena, who in turn stole Georg’s model files, altered it, and uploaded for sale. This has been a bit of a hectic hayride, but I suppose at the end of the day, the it theft of the altered Magdalena sculpt has been discovered and removed from the one Russian website at least?
But no one actually said that Ivan was an author of Magda’s HEAD. So he can’t actually claim any knowledge about who is the author of that model since he is not one. 3d model’s author is Sergey Shapovalov, who recognized his own model. Ivan is the man who printed it from z-brush model, not the one who CREATED it. As for Georg’s statement - that human being is a pathological liar. Now he lies to cover his ass. What a surprise. No one stole anything from him. He just ripped off his customers of their money reselling Sergey Shapovalov’s model with minor changes for 800 dollars. That’s it. No photos of the modeling process was shown. Georg simply claimed that he sculpted Magdalena with clay and Magic sculpt (whined a lot about it ruining his hands in his own blog) while photos of the model clearly showed that it was 3D printed. So he lied then and he lies now. What a nice person he is.
I’m not familiar with anything about that side of Amadiz (mostly just familiar with how off their wigs can be, through seeing something people asking if the color difference is normal etc. on facebook, and I’ve heard of the bullying aspect of the duo), so I can’t say anything about that specifically… though I assume since the evidence Georg Ramensky provided to 3today.ru to remove the files is, at the very least, perhaps enough to calm the worry about Magdalena not being his own sculpt for the mean time – unless more evidence to the contrary pops up. I assume he must have had something dated to show him making Magdalena’s head which predated when the Magdalena’s head files were uploaded by Sergey Shapovalov… though it’s hard to say. I’m not familiar with the website firsthand, and I can’t read Russian, so I’m unsure if it’s extremely easy to get content disabled/removed even at the slightest prodding, though. If Sergey Shapovalov is the original sculptor after all, I would assume he will dispute it with the website to have his content restored, in which case there will be more information to take in about the whole situation. As for Ivan Plastmaska, Plastmaska was accredited as being the original sculptor by Amadizreality, who has the most alleged content about this situation.
“ I assume since the evidence Georg Ramensky provided to 3today.ru to remove the files is”
Well.. no. Because these files were probably removed because he finally bought all the rights for the model from Sergey. Or site administration decided to remove them temporarily for further investigation. You see, Sergey’s model (and that is extremely important) is ANATOMICALLY CORRECT while Georg’s version of it is not. The back of the Sergey’s head has anatomically correct proportions while Georg’s version of it was stretched to adopt the head to a different body (he didn’t use the body from original Sergey’s model you know? he bought or stole it from someone else). I hope that Sergey will make a statement. Right now I’m just shocked at the amount of lies that Georg is pouring into the English-speaking segment of bjd-community. Especially about being mistreated as a transgender person. That disgusts me! He is a well-known homophobe and misogynist, he never came out to public - everyone in hobby knew that he was transgender years ago (it didn’t impede him from slandering cross-gender girls in his past because “they’re not ok” and “are sick” and talk about himself as being “a true man who made a kid to his wife the old-fashioned “grandpa’s way” and “having a normal male-female family”). Knowing about it (and trust me there is a lot more of the examples of his anti-LGBTQ behavior) and seeing him lying about angry Russian homo-and-transgenderphobs is like WTF?! Ivan was accused to have some similar printed parts on his blog not being an AUTHOR of Magda’s head. As for the screenshots from Georg’s latest post: dates on folders could be easily tweaked by changing system dates in Windows. As for the screenshots of him chatting with his wife through Vkontakte (Russian Facebook analog) they can be easily tweaked in photoshop while screenshots of the files with Magda’s head doesn’t look like Sergey’s model. So Georg actually want’s us to believe that Sergey took his model and did what? Made it anatomically correct? Added an anatomically correct body? Then why would Sergey steal something from Georg if he is capable to do all that things - create an anatomically correct head and a body? Georg’s lies are even more pathetic right now than usual.
I have gotten in contact with the original 3D poster of the doll, aka PoToLo. They say it is their workmanship but the issue with Amadiz is settled. My guess is that Amadiz really just bought the rights to the doll but that doesn’t give them right to claim as their own from the start. I honestly have no idea who’s telling the truth at this point. But at least it’s “settled”.
It all could change when the author of the model will suddenly find out that he stole his own creation from Georg. But no amount of money can cover up the fact that Georg lied to his customers and to Russian and English-speaking bjd-community.
Are there screenshots available of the alleged things he said about trans women? Because I would like to see them–if they’re in Russian, it would help if they were translated.
It’s not a problem. I think I’ll just submit a post about his harassment towards LGBTQ and his lies about his gender to http://amadizreality.tumblr.com/
