Zutara Week 2022 Dates: August 1 - August 7, 2022

We’re still in the process of getting in contact with the original mod of @zutaraweek, but in the meantime people seemed to respond positively to the suggested dates and prompts, so here’s the official* list! Big thank you to @hayleynwong for letting us use her art, it’s adorable.

Everything else is still being figured out so if you have questions I probably don’t know the answers yet.

*If the original moderator for @zutaraweek decides they are interested in running it again this year, then we’ll revert to any plans for dates/ prompts they would like. It’s no one’s intention to steal the event from them.

Zutara Week 2022 Proposed Dates and Prompts

People responded positively to the idea of wanting to make sure that Zutara Week continued this year, so to keep things moving along I propose the following dates and prompts:

*If the original moderator for @zutaraweek decides they are interested in running it again this year, then we can just disregard these dates and prompts and use the ones they create instead.*

Date: August 1 - August 7 (These dates keep the event in line with previous years, and gives everyone a month to prepare. Plus, as a bonus, August 1 is a Monday so it’ll be easy to remember which day each prompt is).

Prompts: Since we are short on time if we want to be able to hold this event when it’s traditionally held, I made a prompt list instead of trying to poll everyone for suggestions. I pulled all the words from lists 2008 - 2021 so I could avoid repeats, and tried to choose prompts that were general enough to let everyone be creative.

Day 1 - celebration

Day 2 - confessions

day 3 - rain

day 4 - legends

day 5 - water lilies/ fire lilies

day 6 - up all night

day 7 - destiny

Please let me know your thoughts! Do you think the dates work? Do you think the prompts look okay? I don’t want to push anything if it isn’t what people want, but I also do want to get things moving ASAP so that people have time to draw/ write/ create. If we can finalize the dates and prompts then we can keep working to figure out the other details (moderators, etc.) after.

Aw so sad to hear about the Zutara Week organizer from the past several years possibly sitting out this year due to the fallout from last year. :< I feel like, in full good faith, they really tried and I don’t know… Zutara was such a saving grace personally in 2020, and I made such good friends… it’d just be so sad if it wasn’t done this year ToT All props to the previous years for all the hard work. For perfectly panda’s efforts, I think these prompts are pretty cute and open to interpretation! However Zutara Week shakes out this year, appreciate Soopersara and Perfectlypanda’s efforts to keep this little fandom tradition going.

The Southern Water Tribe has a legend that waterbenders will glow where their soulmates touch them. No one had witnessed the phenomenon in centuries so it was thought to just be a myth. Until a certain firebender showed up.

ZK Mythical Creatures Week Day 6: Greek Mythology

When I started thinking about mixing Zutara with a Greek myth for @zkmythicalcreaturesweek, I told myself I wanted to do something other than Persephone and Hades (I was intrigued by the idea of Hephaestus because he was disfigured by his parents and is the god of fire and metal working, but he and Aphrodite really didn’t have a happy marriage…). But then I suddenly had a strong mental image for Persephone/ Hades, so here we are. I pictured it in @dreadart’s slightly gothic style, so I tried my best to capture that. I don’t think I quite achieved it, but it was a fun exercise (and an excuse to admire @dreadart’s work).

What Is Zutara Fanworks Appreciation Week?

The Zutara fandom would be nothing without its fanworks and their creators - that’s the idea behind ZFAW. It’s a weeklong opportunity for Zutara fans to show their appreciation for their favorite fanworks and content creators by creating their own fanworks based upon them! This can take any form - fanfiction, fanart, original songs, fan videos, visual media, you name it. As long as it’s based on a Zutara fanwork, it’s fair game!

When will ZFAW take place?

November 22-28, 2020!

How do I participate in ZFAW?

Simply create fanworks, post them to Twitter or Tumblr, and tag @zkfanworkweek! If you can tag the original creator, that would also be great, but no worries if not!

I made this because I wanted a wallpaper for iOS 14 before I realized it was honestly too much work for me. Father, I love her.

Okay this is a long post and honestly one of my favourite pieces. It’s based on this poem by Azra T which is so beautiful I absolutely love it. All I could think was how perfectly it fits Zuko and Katara when I read it and it inspired this entire of project.
