One thing I really appreciate about episode 26 of Pursuit of Jade, is Fan Changyu being all she can be on the battlefield and not needing to be saved. When Xie Zheng woke up and started rushing to the front, a lesser show would have had him turn up just in time to save Changyu from the scary general and have that be the reveal. Instead, Changyu did the damn thing, protected her family and fought like hell to survive (and it showed too!), letting the great Marquis Wu'an show up at the end of the decisive battle.
