Here's another creature I cooked up on the side, really like how it looks. Wanted to do an original TLOS creature design for once that would fit but but also feel large. For anyone into animals, the head is based on a certain mammal based reptile, if yall wanna guess for fun.
Large jungle beasts that roam the jungles of Avalar, almost considered apex's due to their size. Large arms with strong muscles to scale and swing around the region. Hunting from both below and above making them versatile hunters.
Many denizens of Avalar even amongst the valley have made slow but steady efforts to explore the jungle region. However encountering dangers is one of the risks to befall them, however one individual species would be believed to dominate the jungle. A large beast that swings through the trees and vines of the region, hunting with such agility.
It was named Theriangala (The i is silent) which translates to Jungle Beast, as it reigns as the top predator in the Avalar jungles.
Theriangala's are large omnivorous beasts, but primarily feed on meat. They do eat fruits and vegetables that grow to snack in case a hunt has failed or something to snack on to balance their diet. Yet meat is their main food since they need much protein, since the vegetation doesn't grow big enough food for them.
Its been observed they claim territory by clawing at trees to mark them and some speculate that multiple claw marks on the same tree could mean a pack. Uniquely individual packs have been sighted fighting against each other over territory, up to 3 or 4 of them in a pack. The packs consist of mostly males, mostly females, or half and half.
Its been seen that their hierarchy involves alpha's leading with one or two scouts and a caretaker with another in case one stays behind.
Female Theriangala's have brighter fur colors but smaller size but are still able to hold their own even against larger males. Females pick males based on physical look, and agility display. If it comes to two males, they will wrestle each other until one goes down, which the fights can be destructive due to their size.
Before fighting threat are shown, through growling, chest beating, and even rearing up to make themselves bigger.
It has been difficulty to know their biology due to strength and agility however speculation and conclusions have been theorized. Their muscles for one, are believed to dense, which allows them to have such great strength and grip. Their tails can even support their weight with stronger bones and muscles within.
Despite their strength they do make use of their jaws to shred meat, due to have razor sharp their teeth are and how strong their jaws are. The worst they can do is fracture bones with their teeth, with their arms their capable of breaking bones. Their jaws are a mix of sharp fangs and teeth with molars in the back.
Which their teeth can regrow if lost.
Their size makes them almost three times bigger than a adult dragon, being 30ft (9 meters tall).
Despite how different they are, they are related to the common seen beasts throughout the realms, making them a different species of them. However Theriangala's do not have the spikes like the common beasts do.
No species variant of the Theriangala has been seen, however one possible belief based on small reports of one. Its believed to be bigger but with a difference in its tail size.
