Hey Des Moines and KC, weâre headed your way!
Zapier co-founders Mike Knoop and Wade Foster will find themselves back in the Midwest this month to present at two tech events being put on by grassroots community groups.
Mike on Friday (as in tomorrow!) will be in Des Moines to speak at the inaugural I/OWA Conference, an event that brings together the Iowa startup community. His arrival in the city actually comes late this afternoon, so make sure to look for him at tonightâs opening party. If youâre interested in learning more about Zapier, the way we work or just want to talk tech in general, flag down Mike on Twitter (@mikeknoop).
Wade on October 25 will be in Kansas City to present at the second annual Compute Midwest, a conference put on by the Kansas City IT Professionals. The event takes place at the beautiful new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Kansas City, which isâget ready for Zapier triviaâjust a couple hours from the birthplace of our company, Columbia, Mo. Iâll be joining Wade at this event and weâre planning to help kick it off with attendance at the opening party on the 24th. It would sure be fun to meet Zapier users, other startups and community membersâjust give us a shout on Twitter (@wadefoster and @dannyawa) to make sure we find time to meet.
Weâre proud to be participating in and supporting these important events in the Silicon Prairie. Thanks to the conference organizers for not only extending the invitation to our team, but for being gracious hosts to us and other tech and startup enthusiasts from across the country.

Zapier Co-founders on the Speaking Circuit
Conference attending has never been a huge priority for Zapier. Conference's can be a great place to learn and hang out with the community, but when you're heads down building a product and growing a customer base, conference attendance is one of the first things to go.
But as luck would have it, all three Zapier co-founders will be speaking at conferences across the U.S. in October. If you're in the area (San Francisco, Des Moines or Kansas City), we hope to see you there!
Bryan Helmig - Oct 2-3 at API World

Each year the Zapier founders fly back to Columbia to Startup Weekend - the place where we got our start. Here's a guest post on our favorite regional tech site, Silicon Prairie News, about why. Check it out...
I'm a big believer that the best place to start your company is your home town. Often times, however, the best place to grow your company is somewhere else. That has been the case for us at Zapier. In October 2011, we debuted at the inaugural Startup Weekend Columbia (Missouri). Eight months later, we earned an invitation to participate in Y Combinator ...
