If you live in Dubai, I'm sure you've heard of a quaint little place called Paul. This French inspired eatery is famous for their delicious selection of pastries and desserts ! I was lucky enough to be invited by the restaurant to enjoy their special Ramadan Iftar menu and boy it did not disappoint.
Starting off with a hot pumpkin & carrot soup which I must admit wasn't my first choice, but ended up being one of the best soups I've had in a very long time ! It was perfectly hot, with the ideal balance of sweet and savoury. Topped with thinly sliced carrots for added texture and a little crunch.Â
The Paul Lentil Soup is a classic dish and amazing all year round.Â
Salade Quinoa et dattes ( Date Salad )
Quinoa, dates, grilled mushroom and artichokes, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, pomegranate, on fresh rocca leaves, Topped with croutons, and served with balsamic vinegar. Â
Salade d'ete au pasteque et fromage
Romaine lettuce with oriental thyme, feta cheese cubes, watermelon, pomegranate, fresh tomato, cucumber, mint leaves. Topped with croutons
Again the watermelon, mint & feta salad wasn't my first choice but it was delightfully refreshing mix and the pops of sweetness from the pomegranate added a nice element. I was pleasantly surprised with how wonderful the fruit & cheese tasted together. I'm all for trying new things and I'd definitely recommend giving this a try ! Even though it's not the first combination that would come to mind.
Stew of grilled fresh salmon, cod fish and shrimps with Holland potatoes, fresh asparagus, cherry tomatoes and sea food bisque. Served with white rice and lemon zest.
Succulent cod, tender shrimps and melt in your mouth cod, topped with a flavoursome bisque sauce. A taste tantalising seafood dish with a supreme array of flavours.
Date Éclair & the Desert of the Day - Apricot Tart
The pierce de resistance of the entire meal was by far the scrumptious Date Éclair. Packed in between fluffy  choux dough was layers of  fresh whipped cream,  vanilla custard and juicy dates. It was so good we had to get another to share ! Definitely a must try this Ramadan.
Overall the food was delicious, the portions were sizeable and the ambiance was lovely. The staff are so sweet & pleasant to be around, they make the whole dining experience so much more enjoyable and relaxing.Â
