With cold wind filling up her lungs, a weak exhalation left crimson margins. Breathing never felt like an agony until then, but it wasn’t the fatigue what brought to life such torture. Quite the opposite, every given step fed an unexplainable excitement, though what remained at the end of the road kept pulling on her nerves as if trying to break her patience. ————— If there was nothing, she would be disappointed. If a silhouette popped up? Surprise ( & pity perhaps ) would invade a long-dead heart. What could the answer be, she wondered. A soft spoken mantra until his frame called her sight, a blurry shadow standing in the distance. He was an obedient dog even after all this time, unbelievable even for the most humiliator female of her kind. ❛ You never stop surprising me, huh? ❜
Most would’ve called him insane. Or simply desperate. He certainly called himself that. She was simply there one day and gone the next. Was it something he said? Did? Did she find him inadequate? These thoughts continued to plague his mind for ages until, eventually, they simply became background noise as he stared up into the night sky. Waiting. He remembered that she always liked to look at these stars. There came a time where he simply gave up hoping, though he kept coming back to this spot simply because it brought him comfort. A place where the best memories he had had been made.
So when she suddenly came walking out of the shadows created by the moonlight, he thought it was his mind playing tricks on him. His ears perked up, as if trying to confirm what he had heard. Then he sniffed the air as a vaguely familiar scent reached his nose. Then, his head snapped towards her direction. His eyes widened when he saw her.
He got to his feet quickly. He wasn’t sure whether he should run up and hug her...or throw a punch at her. Honestly both might have meant the same thing considering their relationship. He should probably say something. But what? He decided...to state the facts. “...You’re back...”
