dead inside but it’s still lit

i think my fear of being perceived is causing me to miss out on a lot of opportunities and connections. i’ve always felt like privacy is a virtue and i think it will continue to be so as we enter a more surveilled state and with content creation becoming most people’s aspiration. idk. i think privacy is something people will value more in the future. but i also feel like my privacy is what’s holding me back in some ways and maybe (some) exposure isn’t necessarily a bad thing or doesn’t have to be. besides the fact that i like staying to myself, i also feel like the internet’s perception of people doesn’t necessarily keep up with individual evolvement, insofar as the internet’s perception of people is almost sometimes frozen in time. like you could post something today and feel completely different about it in 3 months but people on the internet will still hold you to what you said 3 months prior. i think that bothers me more than anything because i’m too complex to be squeezed into a box. i’m always changing whether in regards to my looks or how i think and feel about things. what i post today may not even reflect or resonate with who i am tomorrow but the internet is kind of forever, even its perception of you. and people’s perception of me not matching my evolution scares me.
