Lipnitskaya will miss Russian Figure Skating Championships due to injury
Olympic figure skating champion Yulia Lipnitskaya will not perform at the Russian Championships due to injury, according to the website of Figure Skating Federation of Russia.
The skater fell on slippery sidewalk on her way home on December 17 which resulted in hip joint and lower back injury.
“The athlete is diagnosed with a bruised right hip, and post-traumatic arthritis of the sacroiliac joint. The nature of the injury precludes Lipnitskaya taking part in the Russian Championships, as the minimum treatment period is 14-17 days,” - says the statement by the federation.
It is also noted that the skater will be treated in Moscow.
Russian Figure Skating Championships will be held from 20 to 26 December in Chelyabinsk.
