Last week, I had a final exam so I wasn't able to write any of diary. Just to give a brief review, I prepared my test with Yugeon and took the actual test for a week.

Oh, before we start, I just want to tell you (even though nobody watches my diary), from now on, this diary will be basically about 'me' with no assigned format. Since it is not a homework, I will feel more free about my contents too.

I have never studied with friends before, but I truly found out that this process may entail many hardships. Also, this test was the test that I spent the least effort. I studied for two weeks and got not bad score. But I felt such a difficulty regarding the test time. We literally spent 140 minutes on one, single test. However, I completely ruined my writing test. The questions were genuinely different what I have studied. So I'm not sure if we can get a GPA of 4. In order to receive that score, I have to get at least 85. Before and during the exam week, I studied Yugeon Chae. Even though he didn't focus that well. he gave me an advantage of surveillance.

After the exam, I went to Karaoke and room escaping cafe with Evan and Yugeon. When I got back home, I was so tired that I slept at 9 pm.

Overall, I found out it is important to spend hard effort in school works not the exam. Even though I didn't get that good score in the final, I was able to get some moderate grades in my subjects.

Hello everyone this is Yun Kim again and a lot of things happened in last week as usual. But before we begin, I'd like to speak about this diary or the blog. Even if it's not a homework, maybe I'm thinking of writing this diary even though the assignment is over. But let's think about this later and move on to my stories.

Last week's stories is mainly about two events. First is that I got hacked in my Discord and my Instagram account. In my Discord account, weird advertisements about Mr. Beast Coin? was sent to every friend that I am in contact with. Fortunately, I don't usually use Discord often so I didn't feel that terrible. But few days later, I don't know if he/she is the same person, but my Instagram was hacked again and a weird Elon Musk Twitter profiles were sent to the people to who I've ever made a chat with (but not everyone). I was in such a awkward situation since the message was even people I've only contacted for once or people I cut off from a long time ago. I unsent all the messages and it took me more than an hour. From this challenge, I found the importance of password and second verification. It seems Joshua got hacked too and I'm pretty sure that he does not know the severity of this problem.

Then we had Science Fair. I was really stressed about this project since I was so furious and passionate and my teammates were not. But I'm not blaming that at all because my expectation was too high. But I don't feel any complaint to the fact that I did 80% of the work. But we didn't finish 60% of the speech but we became the 2nd place of Middle School Science Fair. There were many hardships. However I think I tried my best and made a good result.

After Science Fair, I was really tired and played for whole weekend. One fun thing is that I broke my father's driver (golf equipment). In that day, I followed my father and played some golf. And I found out I am really not talented in golf. I tried to make a swing with my strength and I completely broke my dad's driver. Later, I went to the gym in my apartment. It was my second time going to the gym, and I didn't do many cool things since I am a beginner. I measured my Inbody stats and found out my inner fat? is too low it was about 10%.

Well this is the end of my diary for English 8 assignment and while writing this diary, I made a decision to keep on writing this diary. I reckon nobody will watch it, but I will write as much as I can since it may? enhance my writing skills and make me ponder about myself more than before. Hello this is Yun Kim again. We're heading toward the end of our diary. This week was more like a rush. I don't know why I'm repeating the word 'rush', but I don't really know the word to accurately explain my week. Anyway, I'm thinking about writing this tumbler blog even though the diary assignment is over. It will be really great if I keep writing on my diary, but I am not sure if I can keep it.

In this week, I had tried my best to create a best quality of Anne Frank Project. I think I spent 7-8 hours editing the video. Because the thing I edit for an hour got deleted, I was so mad and re-do the subtitle work again and again. But after I received pretty good(?) evaluation from Mr. Mons, I was little (?) satisfied.

Currently I'm playing volleyball and I'm getting better and better. I especially like to do smashing since it's the only thing I am little bit good at, I enjoy do smashing.

It's almost the end of this diary and I hope everyone stay healthy and share their memories with us.

In this week, I didn't really have much fun. It was more like a rush. These days, I'm very stressed about the science fair. Because after the check in #3, I found out our purpose of this science fair is not really clear. But I have to move on. I think it is really hard to work with people who are not really passionate in academic achievement. I understand, they don't want to work and think, "we're just 8th graders, we just have to pass the classes." But I feel so ironic on this opinion. How are we able to study harder in 9th grader even though you are not ready in 8th grade?! Some of my classmates show this ironic reaction (should I just ignore them). I truly think 7th graders are definitely more passionate in academic performance. Well, I honestly thank my classmates. Due to the reason that I can always be the first place easily, it will be a great opportunity for me to get the academic excellence award. But sometimes I genuinely feel hardships competing with my classmates. I don't want to be arrogant or haughty, but I was pretty shocked when nobody in my grade received the award regarding academic performance (meaning nobody's GPA is 3.85 or more). It was kind of embarrassing when 7 of 7th graders received the awards. I don't know, but the fact is that the academic environment is not really appropriate. I wish everyone in my grade has more enthusiasm. I don't want to be a boomer, but seriously they have to study unless their parents are super rich and wealthy that has money that can feed up their grand - grand children.

I had a lot of hardships concerning the Anne Frank project. Actually I have to rush doing editing after writing this blog. I didn't have much fun since literally nobody memorized the script. I expected it, but still it was very disappointing. Also, their attitude or the behavior really let me down. As I said in the first paragraph, they are not passionate at all. Maybe this is the reason I like individual work than group work especially in this school.

Well this week's blog was pretty a boring topic, and I'm kind of sorry about that. This was Yun Kim and this is the end of this week's diary. P.S) I lost another 1 kg some I'm like 76-77 kg, maybe I can really see some six-pack!

Hello this is Yun Kim again. A lot of things happened this week, so I couldn't help myself from just chilling out in the weekends.

I saw the news that unaccredited international school may disappear due to the harsher sanctions from the government. So I thought, "Actually, why were I willing to go the international school?" The answer was pretty simple, "I want to go to U.S." But I realized there are several ways to get to U.S excluding the choice of going to unaccredited international school. Such as, studying abroad or go to foreign language school. I am not trying to optimistic and critical to my classmates and myself, but I concluded that unaccredited school is for students who have wealthy parents that doesn't need to study for their entire life or escapists who ran away from Korean education. I know that Korean education is extremely difficult, but I can't erase the thought that I'm just escapee who was so afraid of competing Korean middle schoolers. I even feel sorry to them. Since international school expenses is highly expensive that not many can afford, it is such a shame that I only have the advantage. When I moved my school to Korean school, I reckoned going to an international school is such a cool thing that I can show off to everybody. Also, I realized having elementary school life in an unaccredited international school is the worst choice that parents can make. In my opinion, I think it took about 2 years to solve my conceited attitude and disrespectful manners toward my parents. I'm not saying everyone goes through this situation, but I saw many of my international friends having unstable psyche. I still have bunch of things to talk about my school life, but I have to tell you some of my daily life.

I started a diet about 12 days ago. That's why I started doing running. I'll cut to the chase, I lost 3 kg in just 12 days! I didn't know just banning myself from junk foods and snacks helped losing my weight that efficiently. I felt hardships at the first five days, but soon I felt little resistance from eating snacks. It is so ironic that I ate so much snacks before two weeks ago. Still, it is pretty to boring to just eat chicken breast and some vegetables.

Seriously, there are other things to tell like failure in science fair or my emotional tiredness with my school relationships. But I am pretty sure I'm living pretty satisfying life compared to other people all around the world. And I thank you for reading my diary. It was Yun Kim. P.S) My next goal is to make six-pack.

I really don't want to say, "Ha it was such a boring week, I have nothing to write." But it is pretty usual that I am experiencing a normal life, and that's a perfectly good thing. But since I am a deliberate student, I will tell you the things happened this week.

I personally think running is a sport that I really hate to do. It is not fun, exciting, and interesting. But I do running since I can't play other sports near my house, running is the only thing I can do. After I moved my school to BCC, I lost all my freedom to play sports. I played soccer almost every lunch time because I was in the school soccer club. Then I gained bunch of weight. I try to run at least twice a week, and I ran on Monday and Sunday. It was really nice to see the scenery of Han River. Also I made my record to 5km, which is a satisfying result.

I and my science fair members worked on our late science fair project. It was really time consuming entails a lot of hard work. So I expect a good result. Surprisingly, I spend 6 hours and a half with Jun. I think it was one of the hardest projects I've ever had in my life.

We have a month? until the end of the semester. I hope everyone be passionate about their academic achievement and be mature that we can be respectful to our parents. It was Yun Kim, and I will see you next week.

Personal Response of the statement, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart."

The first time I read the novel version of Diary of Anne Frank, even though it is a children's version, it impressed me a lot. It was so touching that it made me feel fun reading a book, which is almost an impossible challenge especially in my young ages. After I became 15 years old I read both the scenario and novel version of Anne Frank, I was able to think of many thoughts that are debatable. However,  I disagree with Anne's opinion, which is referring to "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." 

It is pretty amazing that Anne still had a positive attitude towards humanity though she went through several challenges and hardships more than average teenagers in South Korea. If I was in Anne’s situation, I wouldn’t be ending by just blaming humanity, I would curse and contempt Nazis for my entire life. Holocaust, which was a disaster of Jewish people, had also caused negative effects on the Frank family. Unfortunately, she passed away at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. What a miserable ending it is. Even though she had a hope before her death, it is ironic that she died due to “people”. 

Nevertheless, her opinion has some big loopholes. The point is that she is missing humans’ depth of human depravity and the harsh realities of evil. Also, if everyone is all good at heart, why does violence exist? Why are those big and small wars occurring in every side and corner of history? It is inevitable to avoid these inherent human instincts by just saying everyone is good at heart. 

According to a book called, Cruelty: Human Evil and the Human Brain, “cruelty is affected by circumstance as well as by characters, then people will continue to be cruel in certain situations.”(p.18) But this book also mentioned that killing them won’t stop cruelty. And since our world’s circumstances are getting worse and worse. There wouldn’t be any possibility that people will be good in heart. 

Even though I want to hope that everyone is good in heart, it is the reality that not everyone is good in their heart. But I admire Anne Frank for having that thought even though she was in worse circumstances that us.

I had a lot of thing this week and it was pretty similar as last week. Just to summarize, I genuinely had nothing special in school. We went to Hanam Starfield for field trip. Then I went to volleyball academy on Saturday.

Monday

Except for the English class I've had, there was no special thing I can remember (Mr. Mons's Classes are always refreshing!). It was nice to finish Anne Frank's Diary scenario.

Tuesday

I realized maybe I should not underestimate the international school math. The fact that my geometry unit tests are getting harder and harder made me kind of nervous about next year's Algebra 2, even though it was found out that I got 107% on my geometry test. Still, I almost got few questions in last minutes, I should study harder. Also, it was really nice to do the debate on Thursday from Speech & Debate class.

Wednesday

I felt a little empathy with Mr. Metzger in his P.E class. It would be very hard to plan the classes in that small area with 26 students. In my opinion we play kickball and dodge ball for 89% in class time. Me and Juhan kind of felt "the class is too repetitive". But we truly learned the pain of planning the class.

Thursday

I reckon I completely ruined my speech. It was really difficult to make the rebuttal on other peoples' speech since I only made speech that is well memorized. I hope I become a better rebuttal speaker next time.

Friday

We went to the field trip to Hanam Starfield Sports Monster. I went there for several times so I didn't have much fun. But having times with my friend was worth it. Then we went to the Hong Kong style restaurant to have some food. I ate Wonton noodles and Dim sum. In there, I found out some interesting fact that Wyatt was born on March 3rd of 2026! Since I am used to the Korean school ages, it was pretty shocking. After that, me, Yugeon, Sihu, and Evan went to room escaping cafe and had fun. Then I came back home and tried to do homework. However, I was too tired to do something, so I just slept.

Saturday

I went to my math academy and learned some trigonometry. It was not really hard, but I might have to work on it more. Then I went to the volleyball academy. I usually play with my old friend, Jayden. I met him in BCC Seocho. He's currently in SSI. Even though I rested for 2 months, my spike became even better. Then I held some science fair experiment with Evan.

Sunday

I overslept and play for half of the day. Then I went to running. For now, I can only run for 3 km since I have flat feet. And right now, I am writing this diary. I have to finish up my Physical Science poster.

April 11th, 2026

Hello this is Yun Kim again and as I wrote in the title, I really had a busy week. Since it's the first week after the break, it was pretty challenging to handle the behindhand assignments. To be honest, I played for whole vacation, meaning I had a fun and joyful rest. While it also reveals the truth that I didn't do any of my homework!! So I was in rush of finishing my World Geography timeline assignment and Geometry Practice Packets. But I have no regrets, because I had such a satisfying vacation. After that, I took classes as usual. It was pretty interesting to see Derek trying to lead the group in Speech and Debate class. Also, we had the year book photo time and I dressed what my mom told me to and took the picture. It was kind of a shame not to take picture in my Korean School. Then on Friday, I read the novel version of Anne Frank's Diary. The story was touching and impressing and I hope I can have some advantage in English class. I reckon the story ended so suddenly that made me shocked. At the end of the day, I finally finished all JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series so I was little proud of myself. On Saturday, I went to the academy and was committed to trigonometry. Also, I went to Daiso and Hangaram stationery store to prepare for my science fair experiment. I deem my science fair is totally toasted. Not much special thing this week and I wish everyone to have a great weekend.

To start, I ordered a new laptop before the journey, so I was happy about it and head off to Shanghai Pudong airport. The flight was comfortable and I had some sleep. When I arrived at the airport, I realized there are so many security cameras, and found out that "this is China..." Even though I visited this place 2 years ago, I still felt refreshing and exciting. My mom and I went to a hotel called, "Grand Mercure Hotel". But later we noticed there are about 10 hotels that use the similar name. So we moved our hotel to Marriott Courtyard. After a little break, we went outside with my mother's old friends. They are currently staying in China for Special Admission for Overseas Koreans. We went to a Skewer restaurant and chit-chat for a while. Then we went to a tea cafe called "Heytea", which is favorite franchise cafe in China.

The next day, I woke up early and went out for running to lose my weight. Since the hotel is located in outskirts in Shanghai (like Gimpo), there were not many special things to observe. Then we head off to start the tourism. My mother's friend had volunteered for our tour commentator, so we felt very thankful. We bought bunch of butter rice cake (it went viral in South Korea) and it tasted pretty good. Observing the old buildings and structures of 19~20th century was really enjoyable. One good thing about the trip was that the food chosen by my mother's friend was really good. Chinese foods are often greasy and oily. However, the food was really tasty to satisfy Korean's appetite. Also, we didn't went to places that is in the guide book. We went to local tourist spot that many Koreans didn't visit.

The next day, it was our last day in Shanghai so we moved quickly. We went to some shopping malls and searched for some interesting Chinese products. Then we went to the Korean town and had some food, this was really great too. Then we to the cafe and chitchat then head off to the Hongqiao Airport. This airport is smaller than Pudong airport but it only took 15 minutes to get there. We head back to Korea. When I arrived at my home, I saw a glorious and fantastic new laptop placed on my desk.

Overall, it was such satisfying trip and I would rate this 10 out of 10. Even though my vacation was not really fun, this trip relieved all of those discontents. I wish everyone had a nice break and this was my first week of diary. Thank you.
