This vlog touches upon Sophia's struggle to recover from a nicotine addiction. It starts off with a glimpse into the main premise of the video-her struggle with withdrawal symptoms. It then touches upon her daily life and how she has been spending her days. What makes this feel confessional is the segments of her serious struggle among the productive lifestyle she shows on camera. Especially towards the end, she sits down in front of a blank wall with no distractions and fully converses with the audience the real struggles she is going through. Also, even the title of the video notifies the audience that this vlog will touch upon confessional topics.

This Apple advertisement quite literally encourages the integration of product and identity by including people of multiple diversities and backgrounds to be a part of this ad. It signifies the unity that Apple products can bring and how inclusive it is of multiple groups. In doing so, it is able to broaden its scope of eliciting feelings of connection with the audience because of its focus on "diversity".

This is not a Love Poem
He wakes herÂ
every morningÂ
a song itching to leave his lips
She knowsÂ
what he wants to sayÂ
but he doesnât.Â
Instead he reaches out his fingers
that are like cello strings
taut and stiffÂ
And when she reaches her own hand
they snapÂ
As if she is the one who broke him.Â
Every passing day he movesÂ
in this big houseÂ
yet she never seems to find him,
only at night, he whispers
âgood night,â but it gets lost in these walls
that feel louder than the truth
his wordsÂ
remind her of a misty shower at nightfall,Â
remind her of his negligenceâ
She knows he loves her.Â
He tells herÂ
occasionally.Â
And yet her heart screams sirensÂ
as writings are climbing
up her mindÂ
of stories and memoriesÂ
of a little girl left behind
of her being left behind.
Why couldnât she love him back?
Happy Valentine's Day!! <3

Weather Worries - Mini Podcast by Yuna
A Monochromatic Truth
Sasha Alex Sloan is another artist who sings this song called, "House with No Mirrors". Immediately, the lyrics seem to emulate her struggles with self-worth. The "house with no mirrors" metaphor refers to the self-deprecating reflections she pushes on herself that lower her self-confidence. Contrastingly with Mckenna's video, Sasha's music video is very minimalistic and takes place in a beat down house which I interpreted as the state of her mind. This video also feels like a confession due to the context behind her outfit and makeup. She has said herself that a tight body suit and wearing no make-up in front of a camera are some of her biggest fears. At the end, she uses a makeup remover to wipe off her makeup and finally presents herself in one of her most vulnerable moments. Signs of vulnerability can also indicate a moment of confession.
The Irony behind the "girl"
This music video encapsulates this artist named Mckenna Grace who confesses she knows of a girl who is a "waste of space" and an "ugly crier". However, despite talking about said "girl", there are numerous hints throughout the video that indicate she is indeed talking about herself. At 0:56, Mckenna is staring at us and voicing these negative phrases through a megaphone while the shot slowly pans out, only to reveal she is yelling these things into a mirror and not the camera. In addition, at 0:45, the lyrics "waste of space and time" are etched on the polaroid images of herself. This notion is confirmed when she switches the perspective from "a girl" to "I am". She is confessing about her feelings of low self-esteem and the negative self-talk she battles with despite the "successful artist" aura she may emit.

Confessional Introductory Post
Hey! I'm Yuna, and through this class, I am hoping to explore a creative avenue that I am not the most familiar with. I have experience with expressing myself creatively through writing but film and video is a first and I am excited to try it out! I am most interested in delving into the nuanced elements that come with making a video. I am slightly worried about making a podcast considering I am not sure if I will be good at talking for long periods of time. It's a challenge I am willing to face though!
I think the concept of "confession" through social media is a brave undertaking especially for those who have already built a reputation around themselves. It's difficult to be vulnerable in a digital database that is so easily prone to hate comments and backlash. Because of this belief, I tend to keep my social profile very minimal regarding my true identity. I tend to reveal more of myself if I know someone in-person and we have spent enough time for me to feel comfortable around them. I think in the end though, confessions are only truly authentic to a certain extent. Unless we are in the person's shoes, it is difficult to truly understand the confession at its core.
