D.Va being a deep and three-dimensional character who desperately feels a deep-seated need to not only protect her home but to make sure everyone there knows they’re safe, who uses video games to give herself the confidence she projects so everyone feels safe, who’s been traumatized by the things she’s seen and who sometimes struggles with the weight of keeping the promise of safety she’s made to her city? That’s all been obvious to any overwatch fan with the most basic grasp of reading comprehension and media literacy. I’m glad, though, that the rest of you have now been brought up to speed.
Except… it wasn’t lol. We knew nothing about her before this other than her being a gamer that was drafted into the military to pilot the mechs. The “gamer gremlin” caricature fans pushed was never accurate and was ugly but to say all this about her was supposedly obvious?
What was there to get all this information from? Her saying “The destruction caused by the omnics here… It reminds me of home.“ and “Seeing what happened after the war here gives me hope for the rebuilding of my country.”
We were supposed to know she tries to carry everything by herself and has PTSD from two map specific voice lines? I get you feel special your predictions were correct but let’s not pretend Overwatch and Blizzard ever tried to make her deep until this point lmao.
If basic context clues, Charlet’s delivery of all her dialogue (especially when interacting with her fans ingame), and her story page went over your head then that’s way more of a You problem than a Game problem. Did you also miss that Mei’s determination and fear of letting her team down is a response to survivor’s guilt stemming from the death of her colleagues before the short?
“basic context clues” nope too vauge
“delivery of all her dialogue” nope too vague and barely any of her dialogue is of substance
“story page” contained nothing except bare lore and implied not even 10% of what
You provided no evidence whatsoever and only prove you just made headcanons based on shallow evidence and now you feel proud they’re right
