Lingering Intentions

I’ve never looked into your eyes but I loved you unconditionally. More than myself. More than the man I want to spend my life with. I never held your hand but I held you. I held you in my very body. He sacrificed himself to take care of us. Always always taking care of us. We never heard you but you were always listening. Listening to him sing. Listening to us laugh. Listening to how we met. Listening to him vent about me in Spanish. Only you knew what he was saying. You heard my heartbeat. And we heard yours. We loved you viciously. Anything and everything for you. Briefly. Too brief. There wasn’t enough time. But in that time you gifted us with your very existence. You chose us to grace with your life. You taught us to strive to be better people. To want more from life, from where we were and see the potential of where we could be. You taught us that we could love each other more. Everyday I fell more and more in love with the man that would take care of us for a lifetime. And I for you guys. We learned to take care of each other emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically. You brought us closer. I looked at him and all I could see was you. To hope that you had his same dark-bright eyes. His wit. His charm. So the world could know that you had manifested from our love. You’d be the perfect blend of two unlikely people. You gave us purpose. You brought so much happiness into our lives. You lit up our world. And I could never lie to you. It’s dim. And it feels like now, now Daddy and I live on two different planets. Too far to meet. But one day, one day we’ll be on the same planet. When the timing is right. And we’ll be able to put the stars back in our sky. I don’t want to let you down. You’ve gifted us. Opened our eyes to our potential. To want to be better. Do better. To love harder. To just try… It’s going to be dark for awhile. But you are the Northern Star always shining bright. So when we look at the dim sky we see you guiding us, always. Like you never left us. So, so how could someone I never met save me. Because you, my Sweet Angel, you did so much more than exist for an instance. 9 weeks and 5 days to be exact. You saved us. And we will remember you for a lifetime. We were worthy. Even for a brief instance. And that will be enough to keep going, so long as we see that bright star shining. For us. Watching over us. Reminding us. Saving us.
