[Thesis R&D] Abstract for Class 1

Coming from an engineering background, I’ve always fascinated by new technologies and how people interaction with them. I’m especially interested in interaction design because I think it’s the combination of design and technology, and I believe that the future is going to be surrounded by the integration of digital information and physical objects / physical space. So what I want to do for my thesis is to explore the future interaction design in our daily lives, focusing on the seamless integration of digital and physical world, and how they could enable inspiration, interpersonal connections and insights for social challenges.

I’ll research about topics that are related to the future of interaction design, including data visualization, public interactive installation, generative art, tangible media and augmented reality. It’s kind of broad but it’s a chance for me to learn new things and explore what I’m interested in. It’s an ongoing experimental project involving users, designers and engineers, and I’ll be learning from some existing examples and developing my own methodology for this creative process. I hope after this thesis year I will be able to show people some process works (mini-thesis projects) and well-design/research public interactive installations to inspire people who are interested in interaction design.
