He and a wolf named Rusty eyed each other, neither knowing if they could trust the other yet. Willow seemed to be nowhere smarter than a concussed moose, something both he and Rusty could agree on.
"C'mon! Let's go hunting!"
The two of them both seemed shocked by Willow's energy. It was almost like she couldn't stop being so energetic. They eventually accepted defeat and followed Willow, not like they had much of a choice.
Willow led them to a bison herd.
What on Yellowstone was she thinking!? Was she trying to get them killed?
Rusty seemed very wary of what was happening and looked completely shocked.
"Willow... let's talk about this and how bad of an idea this could be!" the chestnut wolf said.
Iceburg wondered how he managed to keep up with his sister's reckless behavior. It seemed like she'd be dead by now if she'd acted like that during her puphood.
(Timeskip to roughly two weeks later, sponsored by: Willow, the Ultimate Reckless Sister!!)
Some time had passed since Iceburg met Willow and Rusty. The sibling duo had become quite fond of the gray wolf and realized he never meant them any harm. Not only that, but he would occasionally help them during fights with rival wolves.
Iceburg slowly began to fall in love with Willow, and Willow also fell in love with Iceburg.
Rusty was happy that Willow had finally found someone she loved, but he'd miss her. She was the first pup ever born into the Oxbow Pack. She was also the heir to the Oxbow Pack, which meant that if she left, the pack would be left without an heir.
Iceburg sat near the rocky den. It was the meeting spot they had agreed on. He noticed a single wolf approaching. It was Willow, but where was Rusty?
"Hey!" Willow greeted him.
"Hi," he quietly replied before adding, "Where's Rusty?"
He noticed Willow pause for a moment before answering.
"He's off hunting and helping negotiate some war thingy with Rose Creek," she replied.
Iceburg yawned, lying down alarmingly close to her. The two stayed like that for the rest of the night until they slowly dozed off.
When he woke up, Willow was already awake, playfully digging around in the dirt.
"Morning..." Iceburg yawned.
"Hmm? Oh, morning!" she replied.
The two stood there for a while before Rusty came running over, quickly slowing to a trot.
"Awwww. Look at the two adorable lovebirds," he teased.
Willow let out a defensive snarl.
"Hey! We aren't lovebirds!" she snapped angrily.
"Sure, sure. Say that all you want," Rusty replied.
Willow quickly called Rusty over to talk in private.
Iceburg honestly wondered what those two could possibly be talking about. Probably some boring pack drama or something like that, he thought. That would make sense. That's why I was never left alone pup-sitting, patrolling, or hunting. He sighed inwardly, insulting himself.
Willow slowly padded back over to him, with Rusty not far behind.
"You sure?" she muttered to Rusty.
Iceburg could hear her because she was terrible at whispering.
Rusty nodded.
"Heyyy... Iceburg."
Iceburg gave her a look that clearly said, Just get on with it already. Stop hesitating.
Willow took a deep breath.
"How would you feel if... um... I was wondering if you'd be willing to... start a pack together...?" she asked, sounding almost afraid that he'd reject her.
"I-I... yes."
