Remember how Mike at the start of Season four Mike brought El spring flowers
and in the end of season four we see El holding a whitered spring flower?
That could have been a symbol for a coming Mileven breakup
Because despite Mike telling her he loved her once, El still might feel like he doesn't understand her enough, doesn't love her enough to say it when she is not dying
Their relationship whitening over the course of season five just like the spring flower
And season 4 was about El's independence arc. That season implied that El's lab arc and Mileven are over. Season 4 was supposed to prepare us for Byler. But idk what happened in the writing room

Lucas didn’t pressure Max to find or help with his friends or relatives.
Lucas saw Max for herself, not as a superhero.
Even if they break up multiple times, Lucas yearns for Max and gets her back easily everytime.
Lumax didn’t need a verbal confirmation for their love.
Lucas didn’t prioritise his bestfriend over Max.
Lucas didn’t call Max “ridiculous” or invalidate her for having a breakdown.
Lucas stayed by Max’s side in the hospital repeating the same song for 18 months.
Lucas did more than waiting on a walkie talkie or making a theory about Max’s life (instead of making a move).
Lucas didn’t remind Max of her abuser.
Lucas’ touch was able to get Max to the real world.
Lucas stayed with Max despite the risk of her racist abusive brother knowing about their company.
Lumax’s relationship definitely had flaws but these two were able to be beyond middle school sweethearts.
Byler and Stonathan are almost the same thing. You can’t hate on one of them for being “misogynistic” if you love the other.
You think that Bylers are automatically misogynistic if they love the ship, because you see them as El (the girl in the love triangle/angle) haters who want to remove her from the picture and want her boyfriend (Mike) to cheat on her with her brother (Will) or whatever.
But you love Stonathan, a ship that involves 2 boys who one of them is/was canonically dating a girl. Does that mean you hate Nancy (the girl in the love triangle/angle) and want to remove her from the picture by making her boyfriend (Johnathan) cheat on her with her ex.boyfriend (Steve)?
“But Jancy wasn’t endgame and they broke up” So is Mileven wasn’t endgame but death separated them (if they didn’t break up pre-S5).
“You can’t cheat on a person who you don’t date anymore.” You also can’t cheat on a person who is either dead or miles away from you.
“Stonathan is a fanon ship that no one expects it to happen, but Bylers wanted their endgame.” Then you’re shaming a group of shippers if they took their queer ship seriously unlike lots of shippers with their ships.
This is how the show treats their female characters btw:
Jane: raised in a lab, kissed a boy before she knew her name, dated before knowing what she was allowed to like things, her bond with her best friend is nuked despite her literally restarting her heart, dies to "end the cycle" and in her FINAL moments she's not allowed to be anything else than Mikes girlfriend, her montage only consists of her and Mike but of course no one cares about that cause "aww mileven montage"🙄... Symbolises "the magic of childhood" but didn't even have a childhood. Her two possible endings were literally death or marriage.
Max: remember when she got out of Vecnas mind by thinking of her happy memories with Lucas and her friends? Sike she just needed Lucas and for the rest of the season, she's just his girlfriend and that's all we know about her future too, so much for "there's more to life than stupid boys". Has an arc about grieving Billy, but her best friend? Nah.
Nancy: for 4/5 seasons, she's treated like a prize to be won between two boys, could've abandoned that in season 2, but NO, that needed to be bought back. Spends all of season 4 developing her and Robins friendship (after 3 seasons of not giving her any friends) just to abandon it in season 5 because female friendships doesn't matter.
Robin: through mutiple seasons, she's potrayed as hating tight clothes and frills, just to make her wear that in the epilogue. Part of the only queer relationship who are broken up by the epilogue because "not all high school couples last".
Joyce: treated like she's crazy for most seasons. In season 5 she's reduced to being Wills mother while having about 1 interactions with Jonathan the entire season. All we know about her future is being Hoppers wife.
Erica: stereotypical black woman. Could've been fine if they involved her in the plot, but in season 5 she's solely used to be funny. We don't know anything about her ending because she's "tough and noone cares about her".
Kali: brings her back after almost four seasons. She was already a hated character and they made her even more hated by creating that stupid suicide pact. Offscreen, she's been abused so badly she feels as death is her only way out, and instead of proving her wrong, they actually kill her off and claim "her story was always supposed to end here". Doesn't help that she's a poc...
Vickie: literally just a side character and love interest. Could've made the only queer couple last for at least some representation, but no "not all high school couples last" (unless you're straight). And this just breaks my heart considering how much their story meant to Amybeth...
one of my favorite byler arguments is is telling them to imagine Lucas and Dustin as Mike and Will
like imagine Lucas going like: we're friends Dustin. WE ARE FRIENDS

Being humiliated by the GA is very enough to not forget what happened because of their writing choices (even though they got humiliated themselves with Mileven’s ending)

People who choose Mileven are more than people who choose Byler.
But Mileven fans who are invested and creative about their ship are MUCH less than Byler fans who are.
General Audience, basic media consumers, and people who don’t understand how fandoms works; choose the canon, hetero, easier, basic, popular option without actually caring about the depth of it.
That’s why you see Milevens repeating the “we have the canon 😎” when you point out how little their fan-media is.
These people just act superior to the “fanon crack” ships because their ship is “canon”, but it’s basic and passionless to just consume what the official media gives you.
While lots of y’all praise S1 & 2 Mileven, I still can’t take them seriously. Especially when they barely united and that was the era where El knew the LEAST about the world and the most era where she’s NOT ready for romance.
Mike cared about El the most in this era because he was a better character then.
Finn and Millie (especially Millie) were just cute kids and THAT’S IT.

You don’t have to love Jane/El for #their hypocrite asses.
You can love El/Jane as a Byler and everything, Love her as a character and whatever.
But DONT try to prove to Milevens and El stans that you love her. Because no matter what you do for her character, their pov is always the same “you’re a Byler, then you’re a misogynistic El hater and you want her boyfriend to cheat on her.”
Even it’s not true, you support women’s rights and your Byler scenarios have Mileven as a broken-up couple or one of them is not present in the other’s life. Cheating Byler is majorly about Will cheating on Carlton NOT Mike cheating on El.
However, arguments about it always go the same, like if you were arguing with a wall not a human being behind a screen.
They’ll show you tweets and all these things even if we all know that Milevens are the ones who are bigots who hate Will and make disgusting jokes about him more than any Byler who just has the courage to criticise Jane without being called misogynistic.
So, leave them with their projections & victim plays, and don’t force yourself to love a character just to try making a part of her fans validate you.
Both Mike & Jane love the idea of being loved and normal btw.
That’s why they’re dating even if they have the chance of be too close platonically as they’re through the same thing.
