No, “ amab nonbinary” is NOT equivalent to transfem.

How many times do nonbinary people have to beg and plead for the rest of the trans community to stop forcing us back into the same shitty gender binary we’re trying to escape? Just because some nonbinary people identify as transmasc or transfem does not mean we all do.

Transneutral people are being erased. People with xenogenders are being erased. People with unique cultural gender identities are being erased. A lot of intersex nonbinary people are being erased.

Nonbinary isn’t a third gender, or a modifier for other genders. It is an umbrella term for anyone who identifies beyond the traditional definition of the gender binary. This does include nonbinary people who are transfeminine, or transmasculine, or both, but please stop defining the entire community by the parts most familiar to you.

This erasure feels like the product of laziness and ignorance. Often I see it happening because someone wants a quick shorthand they can use in their discourse posts. And sometimes it happens because someone is claiming half the nonbinary population as transfem or transmasc for the sake of their argument.

For the record, the word for discrimination against nonbinary people is EXORSEXISM, though some may prefer enbyphobia, or just transphobia as a blanket term. Terms like transmisogyny and transandrophobia/anti-transmasculinity CAN be applied to some nonbinary people, with their consent.

But you’ve lost the plot the moment you start trying to sleuth out a nonbinary person’s AGAB to determine which type of oppression they face. If you treat a nonbinary person differently based on what junk you think they have, you are a transphobe and a sexist. And know that any system based off of AGAB is going to be extremely intersexist as well, because sex isn’t a clear-cut binary, either!

I hate how every time somebody makes an acoustic cover of a rap song, y'all be in the comments like "Wait guys, why are the lyrics actually kinda deep?" Duh! Of course the lyrics are deep. The problem is, some of y'all have a bias so deeply entrenched that you can't possibly fathom the fact that Black music can be deep, can be introspective, can be intellectual. More than 50% of Indigenous communities in reserve areas in Canada are at high risk of pipeline spills. When there is a spill, reserves are disproportionately impacted.

The National Energy Board and Supreme Court of Canada has a history of declaring the "public interest and economic interests outweigh Indigenous and treaty rights." Basically, Indigenous peoples don't count enough as "public" to matter.

Pipelines are built without proper consent from the Indigenous Nations they choose to occupy. Keep in mind I say choose, because this is the case even when alternative pipeline routes are suggested that could avoid reserve land. This is a direct, constant, and often violent threat to Indigenous sovereignty.

The MMIW crisis is funded by the oil industry through the creation of worker's "man camps" near reserve land. These "man camps" are nothing but pits of sexual violence and human trafficking of Indigenous women and girls. I am not exaggerating; this is well studied and well documented.

There's a blackout/boycott being organized starting on August 13th, the day the policy is supposed to go into effect. That day, we stop using youtube until they roll it back. Use other video websites (cuz they do exist) if you have a youtube premium subscriptin (for some reason), cancel it and state this new policy as the reason why. leave feedback on why you're against this. Call them and don't email. no human answers the emails. and more importantly, TANK. THEIR. RATINGS. On the 13th, go to the app store if you have the youtube app, and en masse leave 1 star reviews and site this new policy as the reason why.
