I had meant to put up this update in the past few days but the mail service is being strange about picking up packages...
Anyways! You should know that I received the full quantities of hard copy books ordered, on Sunday! I spent the majority of Monday putting all your lovely perks into their packages and printing labels.
I sent most of you tracking numbers over email and the packages should be on their way to all of you over the next day or so!
I'm making this the final update, for the time being, but I want to one last time express the immense gratitude of every person involved with this project. We really could not have done any of this without your support.

This update would have been made a week or two ago but I had a small misunderstanding with the printer on the proofing process; they sent me an unbound version originally. The requested bound version has now been received and approved!

Hello again! I finally get to give two updates in the same month and it is super exciting news!

You should have received an email from [email protected] with the code to get it for "free" since you backed this project. (You will still have to go through the check-out process on the site.) If you didn't receive a code or the email is lost, please email that address and I will send it to you again.
Feel free to send other people to the store if they are interested in the zine; any additional funds made with be distributed 50/50 to the creators and the charities the campaign supported.

I was sixteen when a History teacher asked my class to describe our generation. It caught us off-guard; an open-floor discussion about ourselves. This wasn’t how we pictured beginning our studies on the Great Depression. Certainly the unit on World War I had been drier; textbook consistency of styrofoam, with the texture of turkey three weeks after the holidays. This was different, this was odd, this was unconventional.
Still, this was an elective class, and we were determined to please. We sat straight and started simple:
“Impatient.” “Entitled.” “Lazy.” “Self-centered.”
We had a very good idea what it was our parents saw in us, the mirror of our mentors that we closely examined each day for failure. Our various faults and flaws, the disappointments. One girl though, stuck her hand up and awkwardly, quietly put forward the shameful idea that she thought our generation was open-minded.
The class was still, just the clack-clack-clack of the overhead fan as we turned the idea round and round in our heads.
Yes, we ventured. Yes, that sounded right.
Open-minded. A few more words trickled through, double-edged but kinder, more honest. Idealistic. Digital. Connected. Dreamers. Ambitious. Maybe too ambitious. Stubborn. Hopeful. Young.
Young, but perhaps not Capable. Surely not Capable. Impossible to tell in a History classroom full of enthusiastic, fierce students. Impossible to tell untested against the promise of our own future.
It seemed, suddenly, cruel how we had seen ourselves. Suddenly, unfair that we only knew harsh criticism. Suddenly, unjust that our parents, our mentors, our teachers had so thoroughly impressed upon twenty-four sixteen year olds, eager to please and eager to learn, that they were selfish and self-serving and indolent and insolent.
Suddenly, so deeply traitorous that children had been taught none of our own brightness, none of our own possibility, none of our own future.
But History is not a classroom. History is not something imparted from outside oneself. History is a daring, and frightened effort of kindness to yourself and others. History is the decade that waited outside that classroom. History was an open thing that thrummed through us. And without reservation, it is not something that we have been taught.
Post Campaign Update 31! PDF is in the Proofing Stage!
Hello all! I have some exciting news! Yes, you read the title correctly; the pdf is almost finished!
I am going to need you to look over the backer page, so that I can make sure that all backers are included and thanked properly (yes even if you didn't select a perk with a book!). You will also receive an email with this file attached as well.
Right now, contributing artists and writers are looking over the pdf proof for edits. I hope to still be able to launch the pdf version on August 31st, as planned. I will let you know if I need to delay the launch, to give anyone more time. The pdf will be launched on Gumroad; you should have received an email with the link and discount code already.
As soon as the pdf is up and running, I should be able to give everyone a better timeline on the printed version. Thank you all so much for your patience and excitement for this project. We really could not have done it without you.

Post Campaign Update 30! All Merch. is In and Ready to Go!
With all the craziness with COVID19 in the country and world, it seems that the things I thought would be effected have good much more smoothly than I thought!
I am now in possession of all stickers, prints, and charms!
What this means for you is that, if you are a person who backed for exclusively a merchandise tier, you will receive an email from [email protected] confirming your mailing address (there is about a dozen people this applies to), and then I can mail you the goods STARTING THIS WEEK! So exciting!
For everyone else, the books are coming along slower than anticipated but hopefully I can still get the pdf uploaded before the end of August. Once the pdf is approved, proofing the physical book should go smoothly. I am sorry I don't have more exciting news on this front but will hopefully be able to post a new update soon.
The original plan was to update more than once a month, but I wanted to make sure I had more information to give you. In the last update, I showed photos of the charms and sticker proofs. I also now have all the prints!
The one person who backed for exclusively prints will hopefully have received the package by now.
The charms now have all been attached to their hardware rings and the stickers have all been received by the artists, at this point. Three quarters of the stickers have been printed and cut, so I am waiting on one artist to update me when they think the stickers will be sent to me.
As for the book, I may be switching print vendors from my original choice and that unfortunately means that the layout isn't done. I apologize that the center of this campaign, the book, is taking the longest for me to develop and update on. Hopefully, I will have better news soon.
I have one last reminder that the PDF is listed on my Gumroad site here. If you backed this project for a physical or PDF perk, you should have received a code to put in at check-out. Please email me at [email protected] , if you didn't receive the code. The code can also be found in the physical books (when you receive those) and on a card that will be in every physical reward package (once those are sent out). The PDF is not downloadable at the moment but Gumroad will send you an email when it is.

I wasn't expecting to have a month gap between updates but I have some great news!
Stickers, charms, and prints might be able to go out to backers before the end of June!
I received the charms order last week and sticker proofs have been sent out to contributors to approve. I have on hand, 2 of the 3 print sets, with the third on its way shortly. What this all means is that if you chose a perk with these items only, I should be able to mail them to you as soon as I receive all of the items! Please email me at [email protected] , if your shipping information has changed, since March.

--Stickers may differ slightly from shown as each artist will pick a paper that suits their work best.
Because of shipping costs, I will likely not mail orders that include the book until I have the physical books on hand. Books are still being processed through layout and proofs, so will feature more prominently in future updates.

So I had meant to give an immediate post-campaign update but considering everything that has happened in the past few weeks in the world, that I am sure many of you have more direct experience with than myself, here we are. Luckily I am going to focus on the good things.

This is very exciting for all of us. I believe that for everyone here this was our first crowdfunding campaign so it was an honor to have it go so well.

Indiegogo has cleared the money so, as of today, all the contributors have been paid in full and all of the charities have been donated to. This was very important for me as a organizer and creative person myself; it means a lot to me to be able to support young people and causes I admire. That was all do to your assistance as well so, thank you again, for that.
In terms of perks, giving the current world environment, I need to reassess the amount of time production and shipping will take, this and next week. I hope that I have allowed for enough buffer in my original estimates but I will be able to give a more accurate account in another update.

We are 108% funded with 28 hours to spare! This is an incredibly exciting and relieving feeling for me and everyone involved I think but its not over yet! You can still get artbooks and cool swag by backing us. Thank you all again!
We have 2 days left of the Young but Capable IGG campaign. 69% funded.
I wanted to make it very clear what it is because I realize that maybe its been framed all this time as a dream instead of the physical items.
Young but Capable is an artbook with a handful of short stories in it. In addition to the book, we are also making stickers, art prints, and acrylic charms.
Everyone involved is under 35, and while there are various degrees of career "level" achieved, none of us are famous. We come from a dozen states in the USA and from a handful of other countries. The charities we've chosen also reflect this.
I hope that makes things a bit clearer so more people will think about supporting us.
