why have tumblr users somehow lumped in incest (consang) with paraphilias…incest, especially consang, is not a paraphilic attraction and it really shows how little people care to be informed on the topic of paraphilias. as a pro consang paraphile, stop labelling it as a para. there is no reason for it to be pushed in there and for that to obscure the idea of it

one thing i will say here regarding other paraphilias is that i think they all really do have a right to call themselves queer. when you look at the history of queerness as a term, it is rooted in the fact that many identities relating to sexuality (and romance and gender, but lets be real: the status quo views all of this as sexual) were viewed as "abnormal", "unnatural", and were vilified and in most cases prohibited out of fear of the harm they would cause, whether they could or not cause harm. if paraphilias do not count as "queer" who the fuck does? all of us would have been viewed the same historically anyways.

to refuse them the term simply because we dont like being in the same umbrella as them is wrong. if it bothers you, just be more specific in your terminology.

#I’m queer outside of para anyway but this makes total sense to me #queerness should be about embracing the ‘odd’ and villainised because that’s what was done onto us (and still is to an extent)#freedom in sex has always been a huge part of the queer community so why are we ignoring paras and denying their use of the term #also I’ve found that a lot of queer people do just tend to overlap too - even myself #queerness and paraphilias go hand in hand sorry not sorry #important
