If the pronoun is listed as reciprocal, that means both characters in question use the same pronoun for one another. Amelie tu-ing her mother may or may not be meaningful. Apparently the use of vous as default when addressing one’s parents is in decline, so it could just be that that’s what’s normal for this family. However, as I haven’t gotten far enough to see whether she tu-s or vous-s her father, it’s also possible she’s tu-ing Emma to be disrespectful, since she’s still pretty pissed at this point. Vous-ing one's parents is also still hanging on more tightly in bougie families than lay families, and the family of the Justice Minister is definitely bougie pretty much by definition, so there's another point for Amelie potentially being intentionally disrespectful.

This one kind of surprised me, because up until this point, Cabanela had been tu-ing every other officer in sight. It’s not because Cabanela isn’t hierarchically above him, because Cab absolutely flexes his authority irt Bailey reporting Lynne’s phonecalls, so I guess it’s more of an unfamiliarity thing.

Not surprising that Cab tu-s his underlings, perfectly normal workplace hierarchy stuff and totally expected from a guy who throws around "mes filles" and "ma poule" like confetti. Can't recall if we've seen either BD or McCaw refer to Cabanela in the second person yet, though. If we have, I missed it while I was taking my notes. I think they just call him "chef," though.

Ray's use of tu is interesting to me, because I think it can be read multiple ways. On one hand, it's typical old-person fare, placing himself hierarchically above the young'uns, so it's not at all out of place for a wizened old tutorial dispenser. On the other hand, Ray is already familiar with both Lynne and Sissel (Lynne especially), and his use of tu could be a nod in that direction. I'm very curious to see what pronoun present-Missile will use to refer to Lynne.

Apparently, tu is the appropriate default pronoun for a person to use when speaking to a pet, so this makes sense. Knowing Sissel was a pet cat who at this point in time thinks he's a human, it's also not surprising that he has this knowledge.
