They’re all asleep. Bee will likely get up around 1 or 2 with a nightmare, but the other two will sleep until 6am.
This 6:30pm bedtime is amazing. The behaviors don’t go away, but man, there are a lot less negative behaviors.
My kids spend 8-10 hours a day at a combination of school/pre-k/after care, throw in various appointments for OT, ST, play therapy and dance class and soccer practice and soccer games.
My parenting style is mostly about moderation and do good when good can be done, and when survival mode is needed to get through the day, that’s okay. My only three hard rules I have for myself as a parent is eating dinner every night together, a strict bedtime routine and lots of praise and affection. Even if it’s splitting a 20 piece mcnugg meal on paper plates, with the exception of when I travel, we eat dinner as a family every single night.
I love these three little birds more than I ever thought I could love someone. If I could go back in time and stop all the hurt and sadness from happening to them, I would trade anything to do that. Everyday, I hope they feel loved, valued and wanted.
I whisper in Dino’s ear that he is the smartest boy in his class. When I hug Bee, I squeeze her tight and tell her how she is brave and wonderful. And when I pick up tiny little MeToo, I nuzzle her cheek and tell her she is loved, loved, loved.
I hope all this is enough.

They asked about mom-how often do you talk (text, phone)? Dad (how did he die), grandma (what are your best memories with her)? Did I have a happy childhood? Describe it. They asked about my parents divorce, visitation. What I would change if I could. Asked about my school timeline elementary schools, junior high and high school. My college education and scholarship, work study. My work history. I talked about how I was parented, what my parents valued most, how I spent my summers, the places I've traveled. My marriage, how we met, what was the courtship like, why we divorced. My stepdaughter and children in my life. My values, religion, spirituality, relationships. My hobbies, what my weekends are like. What my work schedule looks like. I was asked to take them through a daily schedule-"a day in the life". What is it like being an only child? What I do at work, is it exciting? What I do with friends? They were pretty in depth regarding my dog. They toured the house and took notes, checked smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, checked for window guards and fire extinguishers. Counted rooms, looked in closets and took more notes. Asked about closest friends and family. Asked about my sitter and local daycares. Told me they'd be calling references. Confirmed the age group I was looking for. They said that what I was choosing to do was a wonderful thing. We talked about the foster system. The lack of information for foster parents. Pros, cons. The coffee and snacks went untouched. I took a nap afterwards. Closer.
