you lift a hand, brushing your fingers over his. “you could never ruin us,” you promise. “because i feel the same.” his lips part, shock flickering across his face before a slow, disbelieving smile blooms. and then he’s pulling you into his arms, holding you tight as though anchoring himself, whispering your name against your hair before kissing you under the streetlight.
