you let out a small sigh as you stepped out of your Uber, thanking the driver as you grabbed your bags from the trunk. as you walked up the driveway to the house your heart skipped a beat. it'd been eight days since you'd seen your boyfriend, Isaac. you and your friends had gone on a trip together just to get away- although your mind had stayed here at home for half of it.

you did your best to open the door as quietly as possible, hoping to surprise Isaac. the low hum of the TV in the living room met your ears as you tiptoed into the house. Isaac was watching something and absentmindedly scrolling through his phone. the opposite arm was stretched across the back of the couch. you paused and took a moment to look at him; it had only been eight days but you missed him so much, and now that he was in front of you it took all your power to not jump on him. somehow you managed to creep into the kitchen to be behind him. stifling a giggle, you lunged forward to cover his eyes. he jumped with a gasp, instinctively grabbing for your wrists. "what the f- baby?" he asked, whirling around to face you. "surprise," you smiled.

but you squealed when Isaac grabbed you by the waist, pulling you over the back of the couch. "Isaac!" you yelled through a laugh. he situated you on his lap, burying his face in your neck. "how'd you sneak up on me, huh?" he hummed into your skin. you shrugged, playing with the curls at the back of his neck. "dunno. maybe I'm just sneakier than you are." he snorted a laugh, finally pulling back to look at you. you mirrored eachother's expressions as wide grins broke out on your faces. "hi baby." "hi Isaac." "I missed you," he said, pouting. "I missed you so much more. the girls almost kicked me out of the house because I kept talking about you." Isaac laughed, the laugh that put butterflies in your stomach. "yeah the boys haven't been around me much, probably for the same reason." he leaned up to press his lips to yours, making you sigh and melt into him.

"'m glad you had fun," he hummed, "but don't ever leave me again." you giggled, letting out a loud laugh as he dug his fingers into your sides playfully. "okay okay I won't. I don't think it'd be healthy, I hardly slept without you beside me." he rolled his head back with a small groan, "tell me about it. I'm exhausted." you raised an eyebrow at his whining but pulled on his arm gently. "hold me," you muttered. "missed your big stupid arms around me." Isaac laughed again but moved to be laying down, pulling you down with him. his arms slowly wrapped around your waist, legs tangling with yours as he sighed. you had meant it, you didn't sleep well the whole trip, and the warmth of Isaac's chest behind you pressed all the exhaustion back into your brain. "I'm happy you're home baby," Isaac whispered, placing a gentle kiss into your hair, and you hummed a response as your eyes slipped closed.

• yes, he's been around for awhile. yes, he drinks blood. no, he doesn't glitter or dry up in the sun, it just drains him and makes him have to feed again.

• keeps to himself but is extremely gentle and caring, especially when it comes to humans. kinda like Batman and Bruce Wayne in a way.

• extremely strong and unnaturally fast, heightened senses of sight and hearing, and can manipulate people's thoughts and memories.

• has a taste for the finer things; his Jeep is his prized possession and he has a pretty extensive jewelry collection. mostly rings but also a handful of chains and necklaces.

• could not survive without music. he's always got earbuds in or music playing in his house. his mind can sometimes be a suffocating place to be and it helps him keep things together.

• lives with his "brothers"- Nick, Tanner, Larry, and Blake- who are also vampires but with different abilities. they found eachother decades ago and despite looking different, the family card is the easiest one to play to keep people from asking questions.

• is fully convinced his damnation has begun early and he'll never find his mate. the other boys affectionately poke fun at his brooding and angsty nature, assuring him he'll find her eventually.

• very very protective when it comes to the people he cares about. a bit territorial at times, and the most loyal man anyone will ever meet. (though throughout his lifetime this has occasionally been used against him.) guarded when he needs to be, only showing his true self with his family.

• absolute BRICK HOUSE of a man. he's already huge but for football? he's way less lean and just becomes a mass of solid muscle

• you're always mesmerized at the way his compression shirts stretch around his biceps, the way his uniform accentuates how broad his shoulders are, how solid his chest is while you lay on it at night

• calls you while he's in the gym, just because he likes the feeling of you being with him while he's there. uses his airpods and even though all you really hear is the little sounds he makes while lifting or trying to catch his breath, it makes you happy too

• but will absolutely send you progress pics and those cheesy thirst trap "post workout" pictures after a work out, sometimes even a video or two of him flexing. who are you to complain?

• EATS. of course he's a big guy, but you have no idea how he does it. he and his teammates are all that way. on one of your first dates you were genuinely taken aback (and also vv attracted) by his ability to eat two steaks, all his side entrees, an appetizer, and half the dessert you shared. it's one of the many things that just make him a man, you suppose.

• unfortunately does not understand that you have a much different schedule than he does. his practices will sometimes go on until 1 or 2 a.m., and he'll go straight to your campus apartment after, eyes bright and looking like a golden retriever while you squint against the light in the hall

• loves !! back scratches !! basically just imagine if a golden retriever became an NCAA football player. he will drop all of his weight on you and wriggle his shirt off and wait for you to scratch his back lightly with your nails until he falls asleep

• also stares at you with big puppy dog eyes, just a man drunk on his love for you. while you talk, while you study, while you're lecturing him about wearing his helmet even during practice. Nick and Tanner are the happiest for him, given how close they are, always asking about you and how you guys are doing. as far as Isaac is concerned, anything you say is sacred and his ears perk up when he hears your voice or your laugh across the room

• ofc he's attracted to you, but the first time you wore one of his jerseys to a game??? man was practically on his knees in the middle of the field. it made him happy but also turned him on knowing you were so proud to wear HIS name and number

• he even convinced his coach to have an extra team hoodie made, a much smaller one with Isaac's name and number on it for you to wear. it quickly becomes a staple in your wardrobe

• a bit of a himbo, I fear. he's passing his classes of course, his coach is very strict with players maintaining their education, but sometimes Isaac can be a bit of an airhead. is it the result of getting hit in the head a few times? we may never know!!

• somehow manages to juggle practice, training, his own classes and his games while still being the sweetest and most attentive boyfriend you've ever had.

• he'll call you to motivate you right before an exam, has pulled all nighters to help you study, even stood outside the window of one of your classes with a huge smile and his thumbs up before one of your presentations

• flowers are delivered to your door once every two weeks. he likes to play dumb, always raising an eyebrow at them and making little comments about your "secret admirer" and how he might have to "beat his ass". you giggle everytime, which eventually makes him give in

• taking you out on dates as often as he can, even if it's just the Starbucks off the interstate, to get you off campus for a bit. he finds the nicest restaurants that you had no idea even existed, telling you to dress up nice and be ready by a certain time, and it never ceases to put butterflies in your stomach when he shows up all cleaned up and dressed nice

• the rest of the team becomes like your extended family. they all look out for you- everyone on campus is terrified to even glance in your direction. the whole school ofc knows you're dating Isaac (the quarterback), but you also have Tanner (defensive lineman) and Nick (tight end), the three biggest dudes on campus never far behind you.

• takes you back home with him for the holidays, excited for you to finally meet his parents. ofc they love you, the boy never shuts up about you. you watch him with love in your eyes as he and his dad watch the Thanksgiving football game, his mom wearing a knowing smile as you help her set the table

• eventually his parents just start asking when he's bringing you back, not when he's coming home. he acts like it bothers him but deep down, it makes his heart swell knowing his parents love you just as much as he does. he's desperate to make you his wife already.

• a munch. look at that man and tell me he wouldn't be. loses a game? head between your thighs. wins a really tough one? you're sitting on his face. you fail a presentation? he's eating you out till your tears blur from frustration to pleasure

• handsy. is still a boy and is absolutely obsessed with you so expect at least one hand on your ass at all times. he'll grope you a lot when you go out, not in a disrespectful or raunchy way, just enough to make you blush and swat his hands away

• will take his frustration out in on you, sorry. you don't even have to wonder anymore. his team loses and he walks off the field in that certain way, tossing his helmet halfway down the tunnel, and you know to quietly get up from the stands and sneak your way to wait for him in the locker room

• notices you glancing at the cheerleaders one day, seeing the way they'd twirl their hair and giggle at him, so he makes a show of taking off his shirt- displaying the bright red streaks of your nails down his back, your teethmarks still glowing purple on his shoulders, bruises from your lips blooming along his collarbones.

Isaac could see it in your eyes. the way they didn't light up when you saw him anymore, the color just a bit duller. the way your shoulders slumped just slightly as you walked. your sighs becoming longer, less playful and more tired. nothing in his career seemed to be going right; roadblocks and complications, always another phone call to make or idea to scrap. he didn't mean to let it effect your relationship. but inevitably it had, his stress and frustration bleeding over into the most precious parts of his heart.

the way he spoke to you; never yelling or swearing, just very clipped and short, no longer the long conversations he used to love. less energy and no desire to take you out anymore. not because he didn't love you, he was just too wiped by the time he actually forced himself away from his computer. then came the excuses, how going out with the Group was for work and not for fun. months passed with not even a Starbucks outing with your boyfriend.

you loved him, you always would, but mentally and emotionally you had been checked out for awhile. going through the motions. growing accustomed to a cold empty bed and no "baby I miss you" texts. changing your perfume or wearing a sundress he used to love, only to be met with a half interested kiss and a distant smile. the only time you heard his laugh anymore was when they were all in a call for a new video. many nights you'd cried yourself to sleep with his videos playing on your shared TV, desperately wanting your boyfriend back. the man you'd fallen in love with, always so attentive and caring, taking you out and listening to you to hear you, not to appease you until you left him alone. regardless of his intentions it felt malicious and it killed you more and more everyday.

Isaac was the one to make the choice. it killed him, but he'd come to the realization late one night while editing. he'd chosen one of your favorite clips of him for another "Discord VC's at 4 a.m." video, and it all hit him like a truck. he couldn't remember the last time he'd held you to fall asleep. you lived in the same house and yet your scent was fading from around him. his lockscreen was empty, no texts or even a Tiktok from you. he took an extra long shower that night, just staring at the wall until the water falling over his shoulders turned cold. something in you knew it was coming. your stomach dropping the moment he decided in the next room to end your relationship. when he stepped out of the bathroom the breah was knocked from him at seeing your wide eyes already staring back at him, wet with tears and exhaustion.

it was a simple conversation. you accepted his words with a few nods, still flinching a bit when he said it. by the end of the week your things were gone and you'd moved back into your apartment. it hurt, of course it did, but you had been so checked out for so long that coping was easier than you'd expected. within a few months you were back to your life before you met him; going out with your friends, studying, even getting a job at the little cafe down the street. Isaac caught wind of where you were working and debated on stopping by, but ultimately always turned the car around and went home. what could he say? what could he do? he didn't take it well, and he couldn't let you see that because this was all his fault. ironically he worked less than ever after you left because his brain was too focused on your absence- finally acknowledging his mistakes.

then a few months later you got a new boyfriend. your first post of him almost made Isaac sick; you were happy. like when he first met you. eyes bright as you smiled up at the guy, his hand resting around your waist. it was like a thousand icicles being shoved through Isaac's heart at once- but a part of him didn't mind. a part of him was elated at finally seeing that smile on your face again. even if he weren't the reason anymore, imagining the sound of your laughter warmed his heart.

was he losing sleep because you weren't laying on his chest? yeah. did he secretly keep one of your sweatshirts when you left? maybe, only because it was the last one you'd worn, so your perfume lingered on the fabric. had he spent these six months imagining how he'd show up and win you back? absolutely. he dreamed of having you back, talking to you and waking up in cold sweats, desperately clinging onto the sound of your voice. knowing you had moved on killed him more everyday, but it was worth it, if you were happy again.

until one day, when he was going through his closet and noticed one of his own hoodies was missing. he didn't think anything of it. just assumed one of the boys had taken it. until his phone dinged with a notification, telling him you'd made a new post- and his heart stopped at seeing you in that hoodie staring back at him.

Isaacwhy is a man that yearns, so here are my thoughts on that. :)

• absolutely puts on malcolm todd, frank ocean, or brent faiyaz and stares at the ceiling trying to imagine how it'd feel if you were laying on his chest

• yearns, do you hear me? Mr. Darcy levels of it, he'll ruffle your hair to piss you off and then stare at his hand in the bathroom because he's genuinely considering not washing it after touching you

• he'll watch you interact with the other boys and feel an ache deep in his chest because he wishes you were smiling at him and laughing at him and listening to him

• when you do talk to him, he watches you like a man born deaf just given the ability to hear. leaning in, eyes fixed on your lips and memorizing the way they move around your words, eyes wide and perking up when you giggle

• occasionally has to hold his breath when you walk by him because your perfume and laundry detergent and the other smell that's so you he can't place it makes him dizzy and he physically has to fight the urge to grab you up and inhale as much of it as he can

• when you're texting he keeps his phone in his hand for hours, scrolling through your conversations over and over as he waits for your next reply, typing one up and hitting send not even ten seconds after you

• back to the first point, will tell the boys not to bother him while he edits (which is a little odd bc has hasn't recorded in a few days but they agree) and will put on a playlist he has made just for you to stalk your socials and imagine a life with you

• how he'd ask you to be his, the dates he'd take you on, the ways he'd take care of you and provide for you, the desire making him so dizzy he drops his head into his hands with a groan as he tries not to feel like a psychopath

• he wants you in the deepest sense of the word, mostly in the affectionate and devoted ways, but he has shamefully had to step away to splash cold water on his face or put on looser joggers when you've shown up wearing a certain top or particular pair of shorts (he's not a creep, he's a guy!! you're extremely attractive, who wouldn't get turned on looking at you?)

• on movie nights with the guys you've fallen asleep leaning against him more than once and let me tell you, you'd think he were guarding a weapon of mass destruction. stays so still he barely breathes, shooting daggers at any of the Group if they laugh or talk too loudly, kicking Tanner until he movesto the floor because he's fidgeting too much

• totally accidentally wraps both his arms around you, giving in and pulling you to be on him chest, nearly exploding and melting as you nuzzle closer to him in your sleep

• walks around on a high for weeks just remembering the way he could feel your heartbeat against his chest, your soft breaths fanning across his collarbones, the overwhelming sense of protection he felt as he held you. dreams of that day more than once and can barely think straight when he wakes up

• overall, he's just very normal about you and his desire to have you and make you his and take care of you. :)
