There are several things I want to do for NPCRomance v3, which I'll detail in this post.

Source Code I lost the source code to NPCRomance, and while I can decompile it, the result isn't perfect. I'll need to rebuild v3 to fix this, and from now on, the source code will be given as a separate download alongside the already open permissions.

Breakups Toggleable, definitely, but in the new version, things will work both ways. Your sims' partners will be able to break up with them if their relationship dips too low.

Bugfixes There's currently a bug where a sim can have more than one boyfriend or girlfriend (or other relationship "flag"). This will cause problems if a sim has more than one partner in the same world. I'll be fixing this in v3.

It’s been over two weeks, and I’ve received a surprising zero reports of issues or script errors for NPCRomance, despite it cresting the 1,000 downloads mark on MTS. Therefore, I’m removing it’s beta status.

In a lot of games, scripts are baked into saves. So, it’s not possible to remove a package after install on an existing save without encountering errors. This is even more important if the script is currently running or always running/polling. 

I learned this with Skyrim and have found this to just be fundamentally true of a lot of games, including The Sims 3. Usually ErrorTrap prevents the game from crashing and burning, but who knows what’s left behind and what it could cause.

Here’s the thing: I can’t help thinking that this issue could be assuaged. That implementing a return ListenerAction.Remove when an option in a menu is toggled could stop the script (while keeping it’s package in to prevent errors) while allowing the player to continue playing without the mod if they don’t like it.

This pure scripting mod attempts to breathe some life into your Sims' NPC friends and romantic interests by allowing them a chance to advance their relationship with your sim when they are nearby.

NPCs now have a small chance or additional chance to:

Ask your active sim out on a date

Kiss or First Kiss with your active sim

Initiate Woohoo with your active sim

Ask your active sim to Go Steady

Propose to your active sim

Initiate Try for Baby with your active sim

All of these interactions have multiple conditions and are cancellable, but your active sim will decide whether to accept them.

This pure scripting mod is currently in beta, as it’s my first scripting mod. It’s far from being perfect. Please let me know if you encounter problems or have any suggestions.

Yolk's Harder School

This XML tuning mod attempts to increase "career" difficulty for elementary and high school students.

Your sims will now get detention after school for using inattentive career tones. However, working hard will decrease the chance they'll get detention if they've been inattentive that day.

They also begin school with a D grade, and only self-sacrificing diligent students who reach the top of the performance meter will receive an A.

Homework is harder, and high school homework is harder than elementary school homework. But your sims still only need to do 50% of it to receive some benefit.

Yolk’s Weather Mix

This XML weather mod attempts to represent the weather where I am in Canada while incorporating some general fixes to how weather behaves. 

It's very sunny every season except fall, but it also has heavy storms in the summer and winter. The temperatures get very cold (-30C/-22F) in the winter and are a smidge cooler (30C/86F) in the summer. Mornings and nights are cooler in spring than in fall.

In addition, it will no longer rain when the temperature is below zero, and fog and hail are reserved for temperatures just above and below zero. The weather should change more often. All weathers have transition times now, too.
