Sometimes, Bam wonders. The house they have is nice. Large and spacious, purchased with way too much money. It once housed a lot more people, before Things happened and everything fell apart. War isn’t meant to be sustainable. Things like that are supposed to have a definitive end, not a fizzling out. Somewhere in between, things had changed. Kisses goodnight became a softer “hope you sleep well” and then simply a nod of acknowledgement, maybe an “I’m going to sleep” on occasion. They still kiss in public, when the act comes just close enough to being real again, but it comes apart just as easily once they’re home.
