16th October 2007.
6:20 a.m.
Everyone are sleeping peacefully, waiting for their alarm clocks to go off, indicating that yet another busy day should begin. They all think that it will be a day like any other, but no one can guess what is happening on a high way in one Southern Europe country – Croatia. No one can’t even suppose that something horrible will happen in just few moments, that one life will end. The life of him, the most amazing singer that the Balkan Peninsula has ever had. The life of Toshe Proeski.
Who would’ve guessed that God would ever take someone like him? Someone so young, so nice, so warm and kind? Person who everyone loved, who was always helping people in trouble, who was there for everyone; to listen to other people’s problems and advice them. That kind of person should never die. Especially not at the age of 26. Even more, a car crash? Someone like him didn’t deserve that.
Dear God, every person who has ever listened to Toshe’s songs must think that you aren’t fair; that you should never take him away from this world. But, I think I may understand why you did that. Everyone would want an angel like Toshe by their side. Plus, as it’s said, people always take the most beautiful flowers first from the garden. I guess you did the same.
It has been eight years since that happened. And no one has forgotten you, Toshe. I know it may sound crazy that I’m writing this as I’m talking to you, but I hope that you are watching this right now and that you see how much not just me, but whole Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and your homeland, Macedonia loves you. You know why? Because you’re the one who used to bring up smiles on people’s faces. You were the most positive person I’ve ever heard of. Oh my, you can’t even understand how much I’m sorry that I’ve never came to any of your concerts. Yes, I was a kid back then, but still. I thought that there will be a lot of opportunities for me to come to your concert and listen to you singing with so much passion and emotion, the way that only you sang. I grew up with your songs. You’re one of the reasons I love music so much, and the first songs that I learnt are yours.
While writing this, I’m on the verge of tears because I’m listening to your songs and I can’t accept the fact that you are not with us any more. I just can’t accept it. And you know what is the craziest thing? I feel like I’ve lost a brother or best friend. But I guess that a lot of people feel the same way.
I must repeat myself. Your songs used to bring up smiles on people’s faces, but now people also cry while listening to them. Because you know what? It is not fair.
You were so noble, so kind and nice. You are the one who deserves the best of this crazy world that we live in. I just can’t believe that you are gone.
Anyhow, I am going to cry if I continue talking like this. The thing I want to tell you is that you are my biggest inspiration, your songs are making me stronger, your voice is bringing up my mood. You are special, Toshe. You really are. And by writing this, I just want to tell you how I feel. Because right now, I’m heartbroken. I wish that 16th October 2007. had never existed because it took away my favourite singer, my inspiration. But I want you to know one thing.
Legends never die.
And you are a true legend.
“Balkan Elvis Prisley” as people used to call you.
That’s exactly who you are.
“We could not keep you away from death, but we can keep you from
“Even though you are gone, you still live in our hearts. Your voice warms our soul, and for a moment, as we close our eyes, we can feel your presence. We mourn your eternal absence on this Earth, but we are grateful we had the honor to witness your success and sing your songs together, in sync. Now, as you sing those same songs with the angles above, know that we will never forget you. Rest in peace, love. ♥”
Angels don’t belong on the Earth, but instead in a world much more pure and beautiful then the one we know. You are home now. You are safe.
Tose, you are our one and only!
Love you so darn much!
Rest in peace, angel.
