Darius spoke to a few of the members on their way out. Mainly to get a feel of how they felt the meeting went. Once he finished up he grabbed his jacket off the back of his chair. He turned at the sound of her voice sitting on the edge of the table, “I’ve always had faith in you. I’m just glad you’re taking things seriously now.” He reached out tracing a finger along her waist then quickly pulls back composing himself “But like I said, don’t disappoint me. My credibility is on the line just as much as yours”
Slightly amused by his restricted form of expression, Naressa smirked as Darius spoke and refrained from touching her. "I'm glad too... But somehow, I have the feeling I could never disappoint you, truly." As the last member of the board left, Naressa took a step closer to Darius getting in his personal space, almost entertained by the anticipation of a reaction. "Either I excel or we're fucked... Literally. So don't tempt me too much. People are damned for the good times." After her little joke, Naressa sighed, relaxing a little with a soft smile. "Trust me, I won't let your chance on me go to waste. I got you."
“Every businessman has to have a perfected poker face” he leaned in close his lips inches away from hers “well I was thinking we go back to my place and..find something to eat” he smiled coyly, his grip on her hips tightening. He stood to his full height “I’m sure Alan wouldn’t have a problem whipping us up something”
The closer he got the more slyness spread over her expression, almost as if it was all a game that fed her interest leaving her wanting more. "Back to your place to eat, huh? And Alan cooks for us? You must have forgotten who caters to me... Need I remind you?" Chuckling, Naressa placed her hands on his arms, letting them travel up to his broad shoulders, while her eyes focused on his lips. "I'll tell you what, I will take you up on the offer of a meal at your house on one condition." With a smirk, her gaze lifted meeting his. "Three course meal, and we both take care of the menu. Alan gets the rest of the day off. How about it? Do we have a deal?"

When Darius placed his hands on her hips, Naressa eased to his touch, leaning towards him slightly. "You hide your worries so well, you know?" Chuckling, she reached up caressing his face, looking him in the eye, as if she could see through the mask. "Yet, worried or not, you're officially my good luck charm." Cheesing from ear to ear, Naressa showed her excitement at the thought of celebration. "You know I love celebrating a good victory, so what do you suggest we do?"
CHERI smiles and make sure to tell the family assistant to send KIARI ( @yungbrvtz ) a gift basket of things he likes to congratulate him on being invited to The Met Gala by Virgil. “Oh and send one too the whole family as well under my new committee names “Hidden Springs Welcome Collective’.” With her new charity and now starting a welcoming committee for the town CHERI was extremely busy. CHERÍ hangs up the phone and walks down the street praying she would somehow be invited to Gala, but she was also prepared to buy her way in. She goes into her favorite juice spot for something to drink and eat. She walks up to the counter and smiles showing her pearly whites. “Yes, I would love a Cobb Salad and a Green Juice please.”
“I can fit that in maybe, when would you like to have this brunch and where?” CHERÍ questioned as she opens the calendar app on her iphone. “But yeah we def needed an organization like this, just call me a stepford wife, I don’t know to be honest.” She chuckled.
"Oo, we have a planner girl in our hands, I love it. I'm thinking this weekend or early next week." Smiling, Naressa mirrored Cheri, getting her calendar up too. "Yep, that would be the best time for me." Grinning, Naressa looked up from her phone. "A stepford wife? Where can I get one?" Chuckling she shook her head. "God forbid that ever became an option for anyone."

She goes into her favorite juice spot for something to drink and eat. She walks up to the counter and smiles showing her pearly whites. “Yes, I would love a Cobb Salad and a Green Juice please.”
“Yes I personally love it here. I shouldn’t do this, but have a welcome gift basket.” CHERÍ smiles and reaches into the bigger bag she had with her and pulls out a gift basket filled with wine, chocolates, a custom LV Hidden Springs Blanket and cheese. “I started a Welcome Collective, I feel like it will help new home owners feel welcomed.”
Not hiding the surprise in her face, Naressa looked over the gift basket Cheri held out to her, and smiled as she reached over examining the gift. "Wow, this is beautiful! I love to see this side of this place." Cheesing, she her gaze lifted, meeting Cheri again, as she nodded comprehending Cheri's rationale. "That is great strategy and I definitely get and appreciate what you are doing. Thank you so much!" When we salad arrived, Naressa reached over to grab hold of it, now letting the gift basket hang over her arm, as she sipped her juice. "You, my dear, were a blessing in disguise today. I should reciprocate the good energy. Want to have brunch one of this days? A little kiki is always welcomed."
Back and forth, Naressa kept dwelling on how to approach the board members about her case, walking up and down, with her mind tangled. She glanced down at the time, sighing as the time neared, and with the meeting around the corner, she felt like a kid again. Her mind travelled to a different time, and she saw her father’s face...
“Nene, que haces? Por que no te mueves, mi hija?” Nando walked over to a young Naressa as she stood backstage, hyperventilating. “Respira, cariño...” He kneeled down next to her, rubbing her back gently. “Breathe in, 1... 2... 3... And out... 2... 3...” The pair began their breathing exercises, and the heart that once wanted to jump out of little Naressa’s chest slowed down...
“In... Out...” Naressa took her deep breathes trying to calm herself, eyes closed, focused on the memory of her childhood. A knock on the door snapped her out of it, and she looked up at her reflection in the mirror. “One moment!” Naressa turned off the tap that had been left running when she zoned out, before composing herself. “Para ti, papi.” She whispered to herself as she looked in the mirror a last time then she headed out, face held high as if she had it in the bag.
When Naressa walked into the room, she glanced over the room taking in the faces of the people who held the fate of her family's legacy in their hands, before breathing in slowly. The noise was blocked out when it was her turn to speak, and as she sat on her seat, it was as if she could not feel her own body, as if her heart had dropped and only she could save it with her plea.
"Good afternoon. As you know, my recent behavior has brought us to this stage and I very much appreciate your understanding and willingness to hear my plea... I want to first apologise to everyone present, as there are no excuses for my disregard for the company's established image, and so with that, I want to take responsibility and assure you that I have learned from my mistake. In hindsight, my behavior was distasteful, not due to my clothing, but how I carried myself thereafter. Though not in accordance to traditional wear... Gentlemen, it's the 21st century and we must not forget that we must reflect the times." Clearing her throat, she half smiled trying to pretend she did not feel awkward about her stance. "I advocate for my placement as the head of Nunez pipelines in my father's stead, and instead of pleading without reason, I will tell you that what you see as a mistake is exactly why I should be the first considered for his replacement."
With the nerves kicking in, Naressa stood up to her feet and perfected her posture, wanting to come across as assertive as possible. "With times changing, this company cannot continue to reflect itself as backwards and outdated, but instead, if it so is to sustain itself through the times that come and go, it has to match the present, and that is showing that a woman who is a feminist and confident can be accepted without being penalised in a way that will diminish her position. By deliberately ruling out the Nunez family due to such a simple thing as choice of clothing, you have showed that the company believes that women are reduced to their appearance rather than their ability."
A sly dry chuckle escaped her, as she knew she would either be crucified or celebrated. But when it came down to it, she had nothing to lose. Naressa began to walk as she spoke, ensuring eye contact with every single member as she continued to deliver her stand point. "I am a confident, independent, proactive person, who prides herself in the legacy of what my family has created, and even so, I cannot ignore that we have failed to evolve in some areas, and with that, I would put to use all my skills to ensure we keep going forth. There were concerns about stability and lack of knowledge on my part, and here I assure you that you could not find a more determined person than the person whose family's name lies on the line, this company is personal to me in a way that it won't be to any other candidate you may consider."
"My misstep in your eyes was but a highlight to our misstep as a company. What you penalise me for now is a reflection of your rejection of progression. For this, the world will penalise you for your shortcomings should you proceed to fuel a patriarchal system that is outdated and degrading to the women of this industry." As she settled back down, Naressa sighed, almost relieved she had gotten out the most of it. "The truth is, gentlemen, you need me. You need someone who will not fear going against tradition, and that will prolong the sustainability of this company. You need Naressa Nunez, because the future is female. Because the future will not care for the conservative approach to dressing, but instead what we can do for the world, what we can do for progression. So, with that, I plead the board comes to its senses for the sake of salvaging this company... Nunez Pipelines without a Nunez will just not last, because we, the Nunez, are the heart of the foundations that keep this going."

Darius watched as Garnell left and shrugged before turning his attention back to Naressa “it looks like it’s unanimous, you have three months. Don’t disappoint me” he stated sternly as they closed the meeting.
Naressa watched Garnell repeat himself then leave, before redirecting her attention to Darius as he spoke. "Got it, boss." She joked with a sly smile as people started gathering themselves and leaving. The seriousness in his voice, however, did not go unnoticed. As the room grew quieter with less commotion, and more privacy was afforded, Naressa stood up and walked over to Darius, still watching as people removed themselves. "I want to thank you, D. Even though you struck, somehow you batted for me, or at least that's what it felt like." Chuckling softly, her gaze fell on Darius once again, seeing him eye to eye as her tone remained low enough not to attract unwanted attention. "You did me a solid. I won't forget it. Thank you for having faith in me."
“It’s the pineapple that makes it taste amazing, and true but you always have to be camera ready.” She tries to explain although she knew she sounded crazy. “But I’m so glad you love it. Are you new to Hidden Springs or are you just returning?” She questioned with her phone in hand.
"Ah, who doesn't love pineapple, eh?" Chuckling, she shook her head. "Darling, bloated or not bloated, with a face like that, you are always camera ready." She winked at Cheri, then smiled. "You can say I am returning, after a little hiatus. Everybody needs a little down time sometimes, you know? This place is so fast lane, that we forget how to be still. That's what I sought. But you? I see you are right at home."

When their eyes met he couldn’t help but smirk. He listened to everything she had to say thoroughly impressed “I propose a three month trial period, if it pleases Miss Nunez?” With his eyebrows raised he stood to his feet his eyes trained on Naressa. “I believe Nunez Pipeline should stay within the Nunez family of course. But sustain the quarter on your own, we come back for a review to assure all members are happy with whatever improvements you’ve implemented and you’ll hold place of CEO..if that’s ok with everyone?”
It was as if Naressa had seen the light at the end of the tunnel, and life had returned to her eyes. When Darius smirked, she knew she had him, and the warmth filled her once again. "It would please Miss Nunez very much so." She cheesed, barely able to contain her excitement. She shifted her gaze from Darius to the other members waiting to see if any would object his proposal, but also as a means to stop herself from showing that she was so happy she could just kiss him. In her mind, she just thanked God for the direction of the meeting, yet she could not help but withhold her gratitude to Darius.

GARNELL sat in his chair and listened to NARESSA speak. Its been a while since he and DARIUS got on the board and they’ve yet to find a good replacement to run the company. GARNELL knew for certain he didn’t care to do any CEO responsibilities he didn’t know about DARIUS but he had his mind made up. “Well I need sometime before I make my decision. I agree with getting and catching up to the modern times, but the accusations was just too much over a piece of clothing. Why didn’t you just say that from the beginning?” GARNELL wasn’t that religious himself so he wasn’t for that being the main point for the NUNEZ family removal from the company. “So I’ll make my decision by Friday.”
Naressa looked over at Garnell expecting the worse, but when he spoke, she was surprised there was not as much resistance as she had anticipated. "I did not say that from the beginning because..." Taking a deep breath, Naressa thought about her next words. "I was dealing with trauma from an experience that led to me having a toxic relationship with myself, body and soul. I thought that the initial approach would compensate for the way I felt at the time, but I could not have been further from the truth. The consequences of my actions were the wake up call I needed, which is why I am now level headed and at peace with the past. I want to move forward from here, so I look forward to your decision on Friday." She gave a slight nod with a smile towards Garnell, feeling at ease.
Back and forth, Naressa kept dwelling on how to approach the board members about her case, walking up and down, with her mind tangled. Nunez Pipelines without a Nunez will just not last, because we, the Nunez, are the heart of the foundations that keep this going."

Darius sat in his chair quiet for a while waiting for any other board members to speak up but they had all appeared to be stunned to silence. He was secretly proud of Naressa, this was the woman who he’d knew she could be. Strong and resilient. But he had to set his feelings to the side to address her objectively. “All very good points Miss Nunez, but the issue at hand is not just your behavior. Your father upheld values that we all agree are important. Changing times does not change morals. We do not reject progression, we reject misrepresentation.” Darius leaned forward in his seat pausing for a moment to gather his words. He did not want to use any inflammatory language that would bite him in the ass later. “You speak of degradation as if we don’t understand women can freely be and act as they please, but we are not civilians we have virtues to uphold and that reflects on us as a whole. We are not granted the same freedoms as most”
For a moment as the silence filled the room, Naressa thought it had come too easily, considering no objections were presented, but then a familiar voice called her attention. Listening to his stance sent a chill down her spine, almost as if a wake up call was coming that the warmth she had felt a second before was an illusion. Reality would not allow for victory to come so quick. "Understandable, of course. Misrepresentation can be the downfall of the brand, but we all saw brands come and go, a lot of the times becoming victims to their lack of updates. I do not represent different morals than that of my fathers, in fact, I sustain that morality lies deeper than the surface, thus allowing for a rebrand on the surface while maintaining the core. This prosecution feels as though I had been caught trafficking, yet it is all about clothes..." Chuckling slightly, Naressa looked over the table trying to read the room, as if counting how many heads had been conquered, then she set her gaze upon Darius. "We are not mere civilians, you are right... Yet even so, we are human. We all make mistakes and learn from them. So, here we find a compromise, where the extremes will not be presented. We modernise the company without radicalising completely. Keep the boundaries up without complete restriction. Together we can find the perfect balance. I will never overstep again, and the board will keep an open mind to my proposals... How about it?" With a sly smile, she met Darius' eye, then shifted her gaze to analyse the progress of her plea.
CHERÍ turned to face her with the same smiley expression on her face, “I’m Cheri nice to meet you as well.” She greeted. “But yeah I love their salads so much and the green juice is the best.” She confirmed. “I found this place last week and I had the vegan bean burrito, but I with this event coming up I don’t want to bloat.” She laughs.
"Likewise, sugar." Naressa smiled, glancing over the counter and then returning her gaze to Cheri, with somewhat of an approving expression. "It's growing on me, but that might just be the anticipation, since you are hyping the place up." Raising her eyebrows surprised, Naressa chuckled lightly. "Bloat? You? Never. You seem like the perfect doll, so don't worry about any of that. I say life is too short to starve, so I eat today, because tomorrow is not guaranteed." Joking, Naressa took the smoothie that was handed over to her and sipped some before nodding. "Yep. I see why the obsession's there.."
“Don’t rub, blot. It’ll be easier to come out.” Savannah coached, she was a bit OCD at times and was pretty good at getting out stains. “No, no. At least let me pay for your dry cleaning.” The woman pleaded with a smile. “Yeah, it seems like everyone is on the run, trying to get to the next place but that’s Hidden Springs for ya!” She joked. “I’m heading to the farmers market.”
"Oo, someone who knows their stuff." Half smiling, Naressa paused and thought about it. "I got it. Would not be right to charge you for a bill like that. How much could it be?" Chuckling, she shook her head. "And that, my dear, is exactly why sometimes I want to fly myself out of here, straight to a deserted island somewhere where I can just relaxed on the beach day and night, no rushing." Naressa joked around before extending her hand out. "I'm Naressa, by the way."

Naressa had just left her first appointment of the day, and somehow, she ended up in the cutest spot she found staring at menus in confusion. She could not decide what to order, and so examined the place with scrutiny, essentially deliberating her stay. When she saw Cheri walk in, she observed her for a while, continuing to deliberate her next move, and then she smirked. “Damn, if a Cobb Salad and a Green Juice made her smile like that, I’ll have what she is having!” Chuckling, she looked across the counter placing her order, before looking over at the new arrival. “Aren’t you a breath of fresh air? Saved me from myself with the meal choice. Honest, I was about to walk away. I definitely don’t come here often enough.” Holding her hand out towards Cheri, Naressa smiled. “I’m Naressa, by the way.”
Glued to her phone, Sav kept her eyes peeled for further updates regarding the Met Gala. It was a special event and as a publicist, it was her job to stay on top of these things. She was pleased to see a few of her clients on the list, but was ultimately waiting to see if she’d be included for the first time. The woman was so distracted that she accidentally bumped into the person in front of her, nearly dropping her post workout smoothie. “Oh crap, I’m sorry!”
“Yes! Tomorrow will work just fine... Dr Ramirez, can you hear me? Dr Ram-...” Naressa raised her voice frustrated with the failed call at hand, clearly thinking about whether she should scrap the whole consultation with her therapist altogether. As the the call cut off, and she looked down at her screen, she saw a new notification regarding the Met Gala, but before she could read it, she was hit. A slight stumble and with two steps back she had regained her balance, but her frappuccino had slipped over her blouse. Frowning as she saw the mess, Naressa looked up to see who had bumped into her, and then sighed as her facial expression relaxed and she let her defence down. “It’s alright, it’s alright. You don’t need to apologise.” She used the napkin on her hand attempting to dry the mess, then shook her head, chuckling. “But hey, at least your smoothie is alive...” Naressa gave up on salvaging the top, looking at the girl with a slight smile studying her for a minute. “With all this rush, I’m even wondering where the pretty girls are running off to and where my invite is”
