look, i donāt usually do this sort of thing, but iāve reached my breaking point.
the absolute lack of respect and basic common sense surrounding George lately is driving me up the wall. iām honestly sick to death of seeing people (and unfortunately, itās the vast majority) talking trash about George as if he isnāt a world-class professional.
George is an exceptional driver and remarkably talented. anyone saying otherwise is either a complete idiot or just a hater (which, letās be real, is the same thing, as both clearly lack a functioning brain cell). this isn't just me being biased; if you actually bother to look at the data from every single season since his debut, his consistency is undeniable. heās been a massive part of why Mercedes has managed to stay in the fight as a top-tier team. if you disagree, iām so sorry, but you simply donāt understand nothing about Formula 1.
it honestly hurts to see how much people feel the need to constantly compare him. i know he has immense respect for Lewis (as do i) but heās finally stepped out from the shadow of a legend to forge his own path. now that heās finally doing it, nobody bothers to notice? to be clear: iām not diminishing Hamiltonās impeccable work or everything heās achieved. i admire him deeply. but very few people seem to grasp the sheer burden George carries and the weight on his shoulders.
Kimi is doing well, yes. heās being consistent and breaking records, which is brilliant, and iām genuinely proud of him. but that doesn't give ANYONE the right to treat George this way. itās not like Mercedes is leading the constructorsā championship by a landslide on its own or depending solely on Kimi. and whether you like it or not (even as a Kimi supporter) we have to acknowledge that, as Toto himself has said, he still has a lot to improve. his starts aren't great, and heās still making errors that will eventually be ironed out, but these points (which often end up compromising the rest of the grid, George included) seem to go unnoticed by people.
these are the same people who, not long ago, were absolutely slaughtering Kimi on social media to the point where he had to deactivate his instagram. that is brutal. heās just a kid. iāll never forgive people for that. theyāre the same ones who were destroying Lando last season (only to worship him now) and the same ones who treated Max like the worst human being before they started idolising him. and mark my words: when George becomes world champion (because YES, he has the talent and he WILL be the world champion), these same dregs of society will be the first to clap and call themselves "fans" when they were the ones spewing their vitriol for the world to see.
the internet is a public space. itās far too easy to hide behind a private profile and slag off someone who, by the way, is a human being with feelings.
everyone is entitled to their preferences and their favourite drivers, but that gives NOBODY the right to be disrespectful. and just to be crystal clear: i am NOT talking down on Kimi here. far from it. iām stating technical facts that anyone with a basic understanding of the sport would recognise. these nuances donāt make him a bad driver; he just has areas to improve, with highs and lows just like any driver. iāve backed that kid since he joined Mercedes and i was over the moon when his promotion was announced. i also remember very well how many people were talking rubbish about him and Totoās decision back then. funny how things change, isn't it? itās tragically comic how fickle people are (and don't even get me started on how Ferrari left both Mercedes and Carlos Sainz in the lurch ā that's a rant for another day).
regardless, George is out there grafting for points (which he is consistently delivering) and chasing his dream, just like Kimi and the rest of the grid. so, surprise surprise: competition between teammates and teams will ALWAYS exist. but being teammates doesn't mean they have to hate each other. so, look at this, another surprise for you idiots: respect exists even between them who are really there for the job, so i honestly want to ask what your problem is with creating toxic rivalries that are far from existing (whether between George and Kimi, between Lando and Oscar, between Max and Hadjar, between Lewis and Charles, etc.). that era is OVER. the sport has EVOLVED. stop being so close-minded, because i'm sure none of you could last a single day doing what they all do.
George has said multiple times heās happy for Kimiās success, but that won't stop him from fighting for his own. and the fact that George claps for Kimi instead of being petty or immature says everything you need to know about his character btw.
and for godās sake, we are only four races in. donāt try to dictate an entire season based on the first three, especially considering George WON in Melbourne. heās driving out of his skin despite the circumstances; he secured a fantastic podium in Shanghai and took P4 in Suzuka and Miami ā a dreadful track, in dreadful conditions, with massive car issues. i donāt know what world youāre living in, but heās sitting on 80 fucking points. EIGHTY. itās basic maths.
by now i should be used to it, but i canāt stomach this much nonsense from people who donāt understand the basics of telemetry, motorsport, or even common decency. thatās what makes this shit draining sometimes: the part of the fanbase thatās only here to pretend they know F1 so they can judge whoever they want. itās a vicious cycle of "let's hate whoever is doing well because we can't respect human effort." itās easier that way, isnāt it? unfortunately, these people will never understand the essence of this (or any other) sport.
maybe if they took a look at themselves, theyād realise how insignificant their bitterness is. "oH, It lOokS bAd fOr RuSselL to lOse to a 19-yEar-oLd," "oh, GEorGe iS tOo iNconsisTent," "oh, RuSselL will neVer wIn a cHampionShip at tHis rAte."
shut up and go study the data.
if you think you can do better, go out there and try it yourself.
p.s.: to my followers and mutuals, i know this is a departure from the usual blog vibes. iām sorry for the rant and the language, but i honestly couldnāt sit back and watch this happen without saying something.
