Yesterday there was news about the movie The Mermaid \Intercross. The official information says that the project has been re-registered and approved, turning from a purely domestic project into a Chinese-international joint project. Rumors say that this happened due to several reasons. New investors have joined, including foreign shareholders. The script was redesigned, and scenes related to Aomori (Japan) were deleted and replaced with new storylines set in Hong Kong. (I assume that this is due to the aggravation of relations between China and Japan and the film censorship committee sent the film for revision). The updated synopsis tells about three people. This is a young man facing unexpected difficulties in Northeast China (presumably the hero played by Yibo). Full of secrets of a middle-aged man living in Hanoi, Vietnam. And the struggle and determination of the family in Hong Kong. The project is currently in the final stage of postproduction. Although filming ended in July 2024, the film crew edited and finalized the movie. The Maoyang Company has included Intercross in the list of its key projects for the second half of 2026.
