Added little piles of snow that you can run into, activating a snowball mode. While covered in snow, you lose the ability to use your parachute, but gain resistance to damage (you don't instantly die when you hit spikes, your snowball just shrinks instead). Hitting multiple snowpiles in quick succession allows you to become a fairly large snowball, which makes rolling down large open stretches much faster.

Made a new title screen today, complete with nice menus and smooth animations/transitions for everything. Next up is the level selection screen..
Built a nice re-usable ice spike crusher mechanism, with all kinds of controls for timing and range built in. Going to make a couple other traps like this to help speed up level creation.

Big progress today on the interface/menu! Pausing and all the buttons are working now, with proper animation and timing. It really adds a lot to the feel of the game when you see it in motion! Just a few details to tidy up, and of course now that we have a real interface there are all kinds of other little additions we want to make. Once this is totally wrapped up and a couple other details are taken care of, it'll be time to go full tilt on level design!

Deadly ice traps!
Amy's been working on the texture for the player character!
Put together a new level prototype today, complete with an Indiana Jones-esque boulder rolling section!
The player character is basically implemented now, he just needs a texture! Feels good to finally get rid of that flying green capsule.
Here's how the 3D version of the protagonist is shaping up, based on Amy's concept. Still needs a little work (and a walking stick) before texturing.

Messing around with some ice spikes!
Some scribbly level design idea snippets. Often I'll get thinking about level design while biking home from work, and when I think I'm on to something interesting I just scratch it down on a sticky note when I get home. Since Yettu Gettu is being made in Unity, it's super fast and easy to prototype these rough ideas and see how they could be improved/used/modified.
Here's the current concept for our protagonist :)
Yettu Gettu is a game of bouncing, parachuting, and rolling down mountainsides. The rocky peaks are inhabited by a strange race of creatures called the Yettu, who appear in a variety of different forms. Some might give you a push forward, while others will eat you on the spot. Using the terrain and the Yettu to your advantage, your goal is to get down the mountain as quickly as possible.
The idea for the game was originally a sort of fusion between SkiFree and QWOP, but as we prototyped it evolved into more puzzle-focused gameplay, and lately it's been taking on a style of its own. We're just making it for fun and to try to learn a few things as we go, so when we're done with it we'll be putting it up for free :)
We'll be posting our progress and any interesting things we learn/figure out here, because why not?
