Okay, this it the follow up to THIS prompt. You know, the one with the angsty fight over Thanksgiving and all of the follow up questions you guys had after. Yeah, that’s it. A character in this little snippet is an undeniable asshole, and I’ve no intentions to redeem him. Sorry not sorry. lol.

He’d called out of work the next morning and asked Emma to do the same because as much as they talked last night, he didn’t feel comfortable with how they left things. Plus, both of their jobs can be semi done from home, and the two of them just felt more important than work at this moment. It’s not like it was the first serious argument they’ve gotten into, but it was the first in a long, long time. He’d almost forgotten how riled up they made each other when anger sparked at their fingertips and threatened to catch fire, but it had come back in full force last night over how to celebrate Thanksgiving.

He’s not even American. It’s not even his own bloody holiday.

But it wasn’t really over Thanksgiving, was it? It was over how even how very much together they are and have been for a long time, they still have issues, their relationship far from perfect. But he loves her more than anything in the world, and he cannot believe he was so harsh with her last night, saying she wasn’t family because she wouldn’t marry him.

Notes: I have three prompts for Little Pirates, a chapter of Once and Future Thing to work on and not to mention cleaning up my Law School AU but what the fuck do I do? I make this little one-shot because I’m a cranky bitch and having a terrible day. This was actually inspired by @katie-dub when we met up and had a chat last week about how everyone seems to forget that Killian was once a villain and a very violent man and while he might be sweet and act all lovely with Emma, if his family was threatened, he would literally burn an entire city to the ground and kill everyone without so much as blinking an eye. I think it’s very easy forget that so we, as Captain Swan shippers, tend to focus more on the more heroic elements of his character and completely ignore that he’s done some pretty shitty and horrible things. I love Killian as much as the next person. He’s my favorite character but I also think it’s important to address he’s got quite the dark side and I don’t think that just went away post-Dark One saga. Summary:  Killian always knew it to be true. He knew it the moment they placed his newborn son in his arms, a suspicion that he had since he found out Emma was pregnant but had solidified when Harrison was alive, red, screaming and still covered in vernix. He knew that he would snap a man’s neck with his bare hand if anyone so much looked at his son the wrong way. And he would do it without a second thought or a hint of remorse.  Word Count: 2,500+ Rating: T+

It is only upon feeling the gentle weight of his son’s body in his arms that Killian feels a sense of calm. He cradles the infant close, a steady relaxed breath leaving his chest as Harrison nuzzles his face into his father’s neck. The riot in his brain that had been buzzing since his son was taken quiets now that he’s back in his father’s arms, safe and unharmed. 

He’s mindful to keep his hand directly on the blanket Harrison is swaddled in, knowing that his mother-in-law will be less than keen if the cute duck onesie she bought gets smeared with blood. It’s something that’s special to Snow in a way that Killian can’t fathom, he doesn’t quite get some of the niceties that his mother-in-law follows. However, Emma humors her and always put their son in that particular onesie whenever they see her parents and Killian isn’t going to let the shenanigans of the day get in the way of that tradition if he can help it. The fuzzy blanket that was a gift from Ruby, however, is a lost cause at this point, dirtied beyond recognition and ruddy smears stretched across the pale blue material. 

(Not his son though. His boy is clean. 

Frightened perhaps. But clean and untouched.

And that’s all that matters.)

A/N: Here’s part two people! I was going to wait to post it a few more days, but since it was already written and the things that I’m supposed to be writing are just not transferring from my brain to the keyboard I decided to give this an early update!

“You – you’re pregnant?” Killian stutters, voice going up in pitch in the middle of the word pregnant like it’s a foreign language to him.

It’s kind of a foreign language to her.

“Well I don’t know, Killian,” she bites out even if he doesn’t deserve her callousness. She hasn’t had a lot of time to process this, but she’s had a little bit more time than him. “That’s what the test is for.”

He doesn’t say anything else, just gets out of the car with this glazed over look in his eyes and walks into the store like he’s moving on auto-pilot. Emma handled that with all of the grace someone should when telling the father of their potential baby that they’re going to be a potential dad.

Summary: Sometimes strangers steal your cab from right under your nose. And sometimes those strangers aren’t strangers anymore.

This was the first thing I had written in a long time, and I wrote it while sitting in the hospital with my grandfather (who is now fine) when he was a patient for over a month. He got hit by a car while on the sidewalk - yes, that’s apparently a real thing - and oftentimes I’d just wander around the hospital because I wasn’t getting in my normal activity level. As I watched all of the doctors walk by in their scrubs one night at approximately two in the morning, my brain screamed “write it.” And this has got nothing to do with anything quite as intense as its inspiration, but I wasn’t looking for any other angst outside of my real life! :)

When she meets him, she hates him. And not the playful I hate you that you say when you’re just scared of admitting how deeply you feel about someone who’s annoying you – flirting, the I hate you that you say when you’re flirting. She hates him the way that her blood boils in anger, her head aches in frustration, and her words bite in malice.

So maybe he doesn’t deserve her anger, her frustration, her malice, her hate. Maybe she met him on a bad day – a no good, horrible, terribly bad day. Maybe she met him on a day that she got fired from her job. A job that barely paid the bills, but at least it paid something. And maybe she met him on a day she found out that her boyfriend – ex-boyfriend to be perfectly clear – got his girlfriend pregnant. His girlfriend who he just happened to be dating while also dating Emma.

For two years.

Asshole.

And maybe she met him on a day where she just wasn’t feeling like she was smart enough, beautiful enough, funny enough, good enough.

Just, enough.

And maybe he was just in the right place at the right time. Or the wrong place at the wrong time, really.
