he lied because he had no sense of self. he lied because he thought felix would like him more if he did. he lied because he was so scared that if he didn't, felix would toss him aside like trash like the rest of his "toys". he didn't lie to hurt felix, he did it because he felt like he had to. he said it himself-- "i just wanted to be your friend". he only slipped into that "egotistical liar" persona after felix died, so that he could live in the delusion that everything went according to plan, so that he can try to push away the crushing guilt of the fact that he killed the only boy he ever loved out of pure desperation to be close to him.
