Come with me down this rabbit hole if you will. The moment we the readers find out about how much Andrew cares is the moment he says "I hate you". Because of this one "throw away" line in the first book "I don't care about exy enough to hate it".
I personally think this is the exact moment HE relieved he was in love with Neil. Because he realized he does care, he cares so much it hurts. And he hates that, he hates his feelings, he hates the fact that Neil makes him feel- makes him care.
And so he hates Neil, because he loves him, because he wants him. Because he cares for him.

i was thinking of something recently, and i realized: so a lot of people headcanon that Piper (and Leo) got some of Jason's memories from Hera's whole memory mix-up thing, or that they're based on memories from Reyna or something. But we know pretty explicitly that's not the case. We know Jason has absolutely zero memories in TLH, including no false memories. However, we know from Piper what some of her false memories are.
And the interesting thing is that Piper's false memories seem to be based on Percy and Annabeth.
We don't know much about Leo's false memories, but Piper's definitely imply that they're almost solely based off of Annabeth and Percy. I think it'd be really interesting actually if they're more based on Annabeth's memories specifically for both Piper and Leo, with their memories of going to school with Jason being based on some of Annabeth's memories of going to private school with Thalia in TTC.
Also it's just kind of interesting how Piper's false memories of Jason literally being based on Percy and Annabeth tie into how Piper views Percy and Annabeth as an ideal couple, and something she aspired to achieve in her relationship with Jason.
