Initially I wasn’t that excited for this episode but I still ended up enjoying it for the most part. It’d honestly be hard for the show to be boring.

Before even going to the episode I knew we wouldn’t see any Gen V characters, and surprise, surprise, I was right. Still not a single mention of any Gen V characters with only TWO episodes left. So, personally I don’t expect these characters stories to end in a satisfying way and it’s extremely disappointing considering we won’t be getting another Gen V season, and they did not adequately wrap up the characters stories before the end.

On a more positive note, I as always enjoyed the soundtrack. I think The Boys is really amazing at utilizing certain popular songs, always at the right moment, and without making it feel overplayed or cheesy.

Of course also loved the AMC parody.

For the whole Ashley stuff….I think the best option for her would be to just flee the country. Don’t join The Boys, stop following Homelander, and just fucking leave. I want her to live in peace away from all of this.

And poor Kimiko! She just isn’t built for this life anymore. Her heart is too soft! She won’t even kill old supes.

I personally really love how theres no subtlety in this show, I understand why it could be a criticism for some but I just think it’s really funny.

Loved to see Hughie and Annie are doing quite well finally! There seems to be no conflict there…so while Homelander is trying to turn the world into a shithole, at least their relationship is going well.

The Deep vs Noir stuff WAS hilarious to me…up until The Deep just fucking kills Black Noir. Ummm really embarrassing for me considering im my last post about The Boys I said I thought Noir would be able to get himself out of this situation…since i thought he was just so much smarter and stronger than The Deep….but ultimately none of that matters when against an emotional man. Rip Black Noir 2.0, you will be missed.

And this whole superhero genocide stuff….It’s my personal belief that the show is on the side of Hughie in thinking that while, yes, there are many bad superheroes, a genocide is not the solution. Yet, it just comes off as incredibly tone deaf considering who they employ!! It does irritate me a little…and hey, maybe i’m way off. Maybe they’re on the side of Butcher in thinking genocide is a-okay and i’m the idiot here. But I doubt that.

And of course would love to Praise Antony Starr for how acting, his facial expressions are seriously amazing. He steals every scene he’s in.

I really have no comment on all the parallels between Trump and Homelander, it’s all very on the nose and we’re all aware of it so there’s really nothing for me to say. All I can say is it makes me very sad for our real life lmao

I really enjoyed the structure of this episode, honestly I enjoy it way more than their usual structure. It reminds me a lot of murder mystery shows, so that’s probably why I enjoy it so much.

But it’s just really cool to watch the story unfold through each different characters perspective.

The Firecracker stuff was all pretty crazy, I kindaa felt bad, just not for her. It was sad to see the church get harassed by supes, and then seeing the pastor get accused of being a pedophile 😭 Poor guy, but like….in the grand scheme of things its not that important.

Crazy to see Firecracker getting ratted out by Soldier Boy…I thought it was cool finally getting to see her kinda object Homelander, but that ended very quickly.

On the other hand, Black Noir 2.0 is someone I do actually feel bad for. Of course he’s still upholding this system, but like the guys just an actor…He just got stuck with the worst possible character, that he realistically cannot quit. It was really nice to see him have a space where he can escape from the chaos that is his job, that also ended very quickly thanks to The Deep.

It seems like The Deep is also starting to blackmail Noir 2.0, so that sucks…but honestly, I don’t think that’ll last too long either. The Deep is incredibly dumb, and weaker than Noir, so i’m sure Noir will find a way to get out of that mess. Or maybe they’ll both die since there’s only three episodes left. That seems like the most likely outcome.

Terror is a weird ass dog…I’m sure this is probably some reference to the comics, idk, I never read them and I sure don’t plan to. It’s a good choice to use him as the perspective for The Boys part of the episode, though. A dog, as we see, can easily just run around and get an aspect of everyone’s story.

M.M has pretty much completely given up with life, Kimiko and Frenchie’s conflict continues, and Butcher has finally come around to letting Kimiko & Annie use V1. I kinda don’t trust him though, I never do. The dudes just untrustworthy, okay?

I absolutely love Sage but….I hope her plans fail 😭 And I totally get why she wants humanity to end considering her personal experiences, but obviously I as a viewer don’t want all of my favorite characters to die like that. I’m not sure if they’ll go the route of Sage succeeding in her plans, I can really see it going any way with this show, but I’m leaning a bit more towards her failing.

At the very least, i’m glad she’s offering Ashley a spot in her bunker. Ashley’s clearly not down with it, though.

Jared Paldecki’s character is finally introduced, and we finally got the Supernatural reunion people have been wanting, but i’ve never seen the show so I just don’t care that much. Every character in that house was a total nothing burger.

As always Soldier Boy has some of the weirdest dialogue ever, and on that note i think I should talk about the whole Vought Rising Stuff.

I don’t care much for the upcoming show at all, likely won’t watch it because i’ve never been the biggest fan of Soldier Boy, and again, I’m bot a Supernatural fan so it’s not like i’d want to watch the show just for Jensen Ackles.

On the opposite side of The Boys spinoff shows…it was announced that Gen V has officially been cancelled, and with only 3 episodes left of The Boys with minimal mentions of Gen V, i’m real confused on how the characters are supposed to integrate into this season like everyone said they would.

I’m disappointed, I really enjoyed Gen V and the characters and it seems pretty unfair that this is how their storyline is getting tied up.

I don’t know if i’m the only one, but the lighting has been absolute shit lately. This is a larger problem in film and television, not specific to The Boys, but it’s become soo annoying. I understand wanting to have dark and gritty scenes, but it should not come at the expense of actually being able to see what the fuck is going on. Of course it was a huge problem this episode since half the runtime is them in that dingy ass lab.

I’ve also seen a few people complaining about the dialogue lately and I have to agree. This is a problem i’ve had with The Boys for a while, emotional scenes especially always end up falling flat for me because of the dialogue.

Anyways, for the actual contents of the episode, I am lovingggggg seeing Firecracker so on edge. She’s been such a nothing-burger character up until this point (just a female The Deep with all the Homelander glazing) so I enjoy seeing her conflicted between obviously thinking Homelander is nuts but knowing that she can’t oppose him. Finally using Valorie Curry in a more interesting way!!

We also finally get to see Annie’s dad, and what a shocker, she has a brother! Annie’s father making an appearance is genuinely the last thing i thought would happen in this show, I haven’t thought about that man like…ever. I never find interest in these dead beat dad archetypes, so the entire episode I was waiting for their interaction to finally end.

I’m also incredibly glad to see Ashley continuing her bdsm relationships lmao, poor woman needs an outlet for all that stress she has.

It seems Hugie and Annie are fixing up their relationship the slightest bit, but I don’t have a whole lot of faith for Frenchie and Kimiko. Love them together but, yeah, it’s definitely not lasting between them.

The most interesting theory i’ve seen lately is that Stormfront is actually Homelanders mom…and seeing the way Soldier Boy reacts every time she’s brought up, i’m kind of convinced they’ll go that route.

I’m sure someone will bring up the fact that we were already told Homelander’s mother died in childbirth and she was a teenage runaway, but there have already been posts made pointing out the fact that the embryo isn’t actually hers, blah blah blah buch of shit I don’t understand lmao. So, yk, if all of that is true then I really don’t think it’d be far fetched to make Stormfront Homelander’s biological mother. It’d totally be up the shows alley of fucked up.

We’ve also still yet to see any Gen V characters…I was honestly really hoping we’d get SOMETHING by now, but I guess that whole show really was pointless.

I’ve already mentioned this before but I absolutely have to say it again, it is incredibly hard to take any of the show’s political/social commentary serious considering who they employ 👀 but I won’t go too deep into that, because last time I brought it up yall didn’t give a fuck.

First things first, I feel like I should finally mention the big elephant in the room - Frenchie’s actor! If you don’t know, Tomer Capone was an idf soldier, and recently an interview of him bragging about the atrocities that Israel committed had resurfaced. Personally, i’ve known about this for a while (since sometime around s4 first releasing) so im not at all shocked by this, but I really appreciate the conversations it has brought on. People are now rightfully criticizing the show because if they can support a war criminal in this manor, then anything they have to say in the show ultimately means nothing. As a fan, it’s really saddening and it’s why I don’t financially support Amazon or the show.

This is a situation I really don’t have much to say about (because I think that im not the best person to speak on it, and others have articulated themselves on this situation way better than i could) other than I obviously condemn the actions of Tomer as well as Erik Kripke and Amazon for keeping him on the show.

With that very sad fact out of the way, time for my thoughts on the actual episode.

I, of course, was very excited that Ryan has finally shown up again but….damn it’s really the worst thing he could’ve done 😅 Even if he survives the show, it’s gonna be with some serious trauma.

First he accidentally kills his mother, finds out his father raped his mom and kills his….aunt?? (I honestly forget what Mallory was to him, but I think she was an aunt figure?? I don’t fucking remember) Then he runs off the Russia, comes back cuz his girlfriend wants to kill his moms ex, then that same ex tries to convince him to kill himself 😭😭😭 then his real dad beats the shit out of him!!! This kid just can’t catch a break.

I can’t lie, the scene where Butcher was convincing Ryan that he should sacrifice himself was killing me. It’s just a little hilarious to me how evil Butcher is

And can we talk about that Homelander and Madelyn scene?! This show just keeps getting more and more absurd. I was taking it so seriously, too, until Madelyn flashed her heavenly tits to Homelander.

The back to back “hey um…can i talk to you about something” was really getting on my nerves. It was genuinely constantly happening this episode, like okayyyy we get it 🙄 1-2 talks is fine but when every character is pairing up to have these “heart to heart talks” it becomes really over-played and annoying.

Kimiko is kinda annoying…but it’s alright. It’s not a huge deal, I just find myself getting a little tired of the constant sex jokes. Like, again, it’s really not that big of a deal, it’s just a very small complaint of mine.

It also seems that Kimiko and Frenchie have some conflicting wants and needs when it comes to their futures…I’m really interested to see how this plays out, but…i’m not entirely sure if I trust Kripke to do anything interesting with that considering this is the last season. It’s my belief that he’ll just kill them off, so the conflicts about their future wont even matter.

On the topic of couples, we all knew those two racists would pair up eventually. I don’t care for either character so I honestly want that storyline to be nipped in the bud as soon as possible so it doesn’t take up too much time.

And at the end of the episode, we see Annie freak out a little and fly away from Hughie and the rest of the group 😵‍💫 she always takes running away from her problems too far…

Now, I get these are jokes but it’s really interesting how The Boys fandom immediately jumps to blame a woman for something she really had nothing to do with 👀 instead of, you know, the man who actually killed a-train with his bare hands

To me, this also shows that The Boys fandom doesn’t understand the characters in the show at all. A-train’s life would not be one worth living if he hadn’t stepped out of the way for that woman. A-train would not be the hero that he is if he didn’t move.

Some spoilers under the cut

In both of their back stories they murdered at least one person, but the way they handle it is entirely different.

Richard’s killing was completely unintentional, it was the heat of the moment and he was only trying to get medicine for his wife. He accidentally shoved the doctor too hard, causing him to hit his head. Richard seems conflicted on what to do but ultimately takes the medicine for his wife and runs, leaving the doctor to bleed out and die.

Eko’s first instance of killing someone was when he was only a child. The militia had come to his village, attempting to force Eko’s little brother, Yemi, to shoot a man. Upon seeing Yemi’s hesitance, Eko knew he did not have the heart to kill someone, and I also believe that Eko didn’t want his brother to have to deal with the guilt. So, he takes the gun from Yemi and shoots the man instead.

While Richard is eventually sentenced to death due to his crime, Eko is recruited into the militia.

Both men were religious prior to their murders, but only one of them stayed religious throughout. While Richard pleads with a priest to absolve him of his sin, Eko only strays further from his religion. Going so far as to threaten to burn down Yemi’s church when he wouldn’t help him smuggle drugs.

Richard desperately wants to be absolved while Eko refuses to even talk to a priest about his sins.

When on the island and finally forced to face their sins, Richard asks Jacob to be forgiven, one last plea to escape his fate. And when told no, he decides he never wants to die, so he’ll never have to face it.

Eko, on the other hand, firmly tells the Man In Black that he actually hasn’t sinned. His actions were necessary for both his and his brother’s life, and he feels no guilt for the people he’s murdered. This, as we all know, leads to the Man In Black killing Eko.
