it must suck if you are a member of nct 127 with like any creative drive bc now youre bound to a team and your direct input to each concept is low to nonexistent. even if youre ty or mark you still report to lsm and kenzie and yoo youngjin and whoever makes them say kwangya all the time. even dem jointz is basically a gig worker for the kpop industry now and everyone expects him to just make the newest pots and pans sound when he is actually good at making that idea sound melodic and interesting but thats not exactly what the industry wants. everyone in kpop is clearly trying to top next level and sticker for every comeback and that burden is felt hardest by 127 members because their songs ACTUALLY used to be fun and ACTUALLY used to push the envelope in a meaningful and nonpredictable direction. it used to be funny to stockholm syndrome myself into finding their songs groundbreaking every single time - and maybe ill do it again this time if its funny enough - but just looking at the perspective of the idols its just interesting. im sure theyre not all clamoring to be soloists or creative directors or whatever but i also doubt that it feels right to be working a grueling 2021-2, doing the dieting, learning the choreo, staying up for hours to record their 1 or 15 lines, performing their long ass sets on tour, just for their releases to be constantly reinventing the word mid
