I.... kinda LOVE this.... ( and also snorted reading the phrase "James's fun alone time")

I'd really like to turn it into more than a little snippet though so here is just some dialogue I was playing with on a word document. I tweaked this idea to be somehow WORSE and have one of James's teammates (who happens to be bffs with Lily 🙈) walk into the locker rooms while James is in the shower uh...doing fun alone things...

Here's just a bit I was playing around with--I'll keep working on it:

“Wait…isn’t there a muggle song about exactly this? About some bloke wanking it to a girl named Lily?”

“The Who,” Remus offers from his bed. “It’s a song from The Who—well, spotted Pete. I’m impressed.”

Peter beams.

“Well there you go, apparently everyone is doing it.” Sirius concludes with a satisfied wave of his hand. “Just say you were trying to be en vogue with muggle trends.”

James peers up from his pillow, voice icy. “Wow, lads. Thanks so much. That makes me feel so much better.”

“Really?”

5. What's something you learned while researching?

I feel like I get asked this a lot and it's a bit funny because I don't do a TON of research to be honest. If I do, it's to find period accurate product names (cigarettes, cars) or to accurately use something that I'm not sure existed in the 1970s UK.

Perhaps the most interesting was for Formidable, I found out that boat was still the cheapest and most preferred form of transportation from UK to France in the 1970s as the Eurostar was not around yet.

10. Is there a character or ship you'd love to write but haven't written yet?

So, while I get frustrated with myself that I can be a jily purist I DO love a good wolfstar fic---though I'm very very VERY picky about them haha. This sort of pickiness would usually make me consider writing wolfstar myself in order to "write them how I like them" but to be honest, I'm quite terrified of doing that!

I can't really put my finger on why I don't think I'd be happy with my own version of wolfstar---it's almost like I haven't pinned down THAT faucet of their characters enough to trust myself with the story I'd want to convey. To be clear---I'm not a fluffy, domestic, "yay romance" wolfstar enjoyer, rather a "two tortured people who are so emotionally stunted they can't quite figure out what they feel or think" fan.

I don't know. Maybe one day I'll ~lightly~ sprinkle some wolfstar in a fic somewhere as a soft launch.

9. How did you get into fan fiction?

I was a long time fanfiction reader wayyyy back when I was young (like 12 years old kinda young lol) and I remember at that age I wrote some really super silly fics but I wasn't dedicated and mostly just read it for fun.

Then, in 2023 I returned to the jily community (since like...2008) and as I started reading fic again, I considered trying my hand at it as a good way to practice writing more fiction prose and get out of a serious writers slump (I have an MFA in poetry).

After that the rest is history...

14. What makes you happiest? New fic comments, kudos, bookmarks, used subscribers, story subscribers, or Tumblr asks?

Honestly all are incredible and I cherish that anyone interacts with me on the internet EVER, but if I had to choose probably comments or asks because I love interacting in a more meaningful and personal way. Nothing makes my heart do a little jump like seeing I have a new comment on a fic or an ask in my Tumblr inbox. It's like waking up Christmas morning and seeing presents under the tree!

Hi! I'm glad I got it out!

I had always imagined this fic ending in the summer of 7th which is when I plan for Lily and James to be together together. But I also feel like with the trajectory it's going that will lead to A. a very anti-climactic ending B. I have too many loose ends flapping about.

So it is going to continue, but the actual end moment is tba currently. I'm trying to wrap it up somehow. I swear!

To be quite honest, I never wanted it to go into full-on relationship jily because then I'd lose the fun spark of the getting together bit. I always told myself that if I felt so inclined I'd continue it as a separate sister fic that would be way less focused on the "horny teenagers falling in love in wartime" aspect and get down to more canon plot things like the forming of the order and what that would look like for....well, horny teenagers falling in love in wartime.

Sorry this is not very specific! I'd never let anyone see it cause my outlines are a disaster but this fic has deviated 110% from its OG version and at least 75% from my original outline for it.

SO, who is driving this train? I guess me, but...I might have terrible eyesight.

Chapter 16: Dalliances and Dualities

“Oh, don’t make me out to be the bad guy,” Bertha pouts. “I’m not being mean. I’m just saying with this political climate we all ought to be less reckless with who we associate with. I mean, the Slytherin’s are right there.”

“Oh, are they now?” Lily says with a breathy laugh. “Well, in that case—”

The next few moments happen in a blur. One minute he’s debating which is worse: letting Lily pull her wand on his best mate’s girlfriend or him doing it himself and the next his head is being drawn up into a kiss, Lily’s lips already opening for him the moment they touch. 

Suddenly, he doesn’t care about Bertha anymore. Couldn’t even pick her out of a line-up if asked. 

Lily Evans is kissing him. Kissing him where everyone can see it.

16. Do you make playlists for your fics?

So, the answer is not for FICS but for characters/ things to get me in the zone...and uh, YES I DO.

Most are like a general "jily" or "Lily" playlists but then I got things like canon-era playlists of what I think lilypad would listen to while working on the motorbike etc. etc. just because it's fun and I like making little playlists like that.
